Been looking around for a decent set of drills for a family member and noticed Wickes have this brushless twin pack, including a hammer and impact driver, charging dock and case on sale for £249. Obviously a decent brand for tools, and seems to have good stock in stores for Click and Collect.

The DeWalt 18V XR brushless twin pack includes a hammer drill and impact driver. The brushless motor delivers reduced friction and better runtime which enables more power to be delivered during application. This results in less wear and an increase in longevity of the tool. The drill features a two speed gearbox and 15 adjustable torque positions for consistent screwdriving into a variety of materials with different screw sizes. The Impact driver can deliver up to 205 Nm of torque which is perfect for repetitive tasks driving fixings into wood and metal. Supplied with two batteries.

  • Brushless motor technology for excellent efficiency
  • Ultra compact and lightweight design allows use in confined spaces
  • Two speed all metal transmission for increased runtime and longer tool life
  • 15 position adjustable torque control for consistent screwdriving into a variety of materials
  • Intelligent trigger design allows for total control of application
  • 3 position LED with delay feature offers improved visibility and flashlight functionality
  • 6.35mm drop in keyless hex driver allows for quick one handed fitment
  • Impact driver has precision drive mode which offers additional control in screwdriving applications to avoid material and fastener damage
  • Aluminium front housing provides greater heat dispersion increasing motor life

What about warranty? Not worth messing for saving £5-£10

Can't register kits with Dewalt only individual tools including each individual tool in a kit, so registering for the warranty will be the exact same either way, as both the companies i posted (Amazon and ECA) are both registered resellers and entitle you to full 3 year Dewalt warranty. Chargers and batteries are excluded from extended warranty so wont be covered in either situation.

Only real advantage i see is that you can take the Wickes product back to a phsyical store if its faulty within the first 12 months, where as you would need to send away for the online sellers, but on the flip side if something breaks you would need to return the full kit to Wickes, where as it would just be an individual item online (unless you buy the kit i posted of course)

Hopefully this helps.

Paid £180 for the 1.5ah version of these. Brilliant set.
Very good set. Brushless, metal gearing, led lights, more compact and power switching modes differentiate this from the Screwfix 150 deal.

This for the tradesman, the Screwfix set for the DIYer.

Exact same tools.Edit: Also £247.49 if you want it with case and 5.0ah batteries

Good bit of research rhat
Good gear. I made the same set up buying separately for £228 with no case. Webster power products sell the dcd796 in this kit with 2x 4ah batteries and tstak case for £142.80. out of stock at the moment... I had the last one, but check with them
Have both, bought separately. They really are excellent tools, the impact in particular is a beast and so compact, good job it has 3 speeds I rarely need to go beyond position 2

Are the 5.0ah batteries worth the extra £30?

5.0 ah are worth way more bought alone
I have both of these brushless tools, they are excellent pcs of kit, highly recommend, nice and compact too for such powerful tools.

Can someone point me to the 10% code?
Paid the same for the 3.0ah version from screwfix before Christmas. Great set
I missed 15% discount on last Monday. I hope it’s gonna come back next week.

The code was 'PICKANY' but it has expired now, it was only available on the 3rd. If you wait until the next eBay international 20% discount you can snag this set with 5ah batts instead of 4ah for around 200 quid if built separately without case.
Not so good price tbh.

Most of the time similar set from Bosch is available for £199

Seperates:
Drill £50-60
Impact £50-60
4Ah batt £45
charger £20

Your battery and charger prices are spot on, but this is the dcd796 drill and dcf887 driver, they are £65 and £75 respctively as the cheapest anywhere i can see brand new. If you have seen them cheaper anywhere else please let me know.

p.s this isnt some proof it or lose it post, i'm genuinely purchasing these tools at the end of the month and if you know of somewhere it would be mighty helpful

Cheers.

At those prices they won't be even vaguely equivalent .Bosch don't don't do a compact 3 speed brushless impact driver for anthing like £50-60, the nearest is the BOSCH GDX18V which is a large wrench/driver at well over a £100 body only and even that only has 180nm.
Thank you ! Got mine on monday with my 15% trade discount. paid £212. What a bargain !
Just grabbed the 2 x 5.0ah set with the US ebay code for £233

Only the 795 though compared to the 796

yeah that was one of the reasons i didn't snag it, i bought 796 with 5ah batts earlier. but a 795 with 4ah normally goes hot around £120 mark, so for a set with 2x3ah batts and the dcf887 as well for under £170 is still a cracking deal, would be ideal for someone whos primary tool would be the impact and don't mind the slightly older drill.
