It's 190 quid at a couple of places including John Lewis, although it was a tenner cheaper at 66 quid at Amazon in November.

Okay I guess but I don't think I'd buy another D&G watch. The warranty … Okay I guess but I don't think I'd buy another D&G watch. The warranty support is atrocious... the latch on mine broke after a couple of months (just fell off when I was walking down a street), so I contacted them only to find out the warranty only covers the working parts. Then they wanted more than it cost to repair it than what it cost for me to buy!I have a friend who works in a jewellers and she says D&G is the most 'popular' brand of watch to come in for repairs...

what a shame was about to order looks nice

Hideous, but a good bargain for someone who likes the look of it. Only one left in stock though!

It is funny how the Christopher Ward sale with £325 watches at £99 (superb quality watches with quality branded works inside) got frozen into oblivion but this dubious deal gets voted hot just because of the name.

It is about the quality of the watch not the name.

Looks like it has gone up in price. Coming up £142.50 now.

Often the way in here, there's really no predicting what deals will go scorchio, apart from reposts of previous hot deals of course, those are often near certs.

I was one of the few that voted the CW deal you mention has hot, lovely watches for the money!

You're surprised? Look how many bell ends laughed at the Skoda Fabia deal on HOTUK the other day, preferring Audi or VW, until someone pointed out they are made by the same people. (VAG Group)

I can't comment on this watch, as I / we have no idea what constitutes the internals.
It could have a Swiss movement, but the fact they aren't bragging about it means probably not.

I may sound like a dick and i can't be bothered to further support this statement, but i'd rather buy a watch from a watch company.

For the price you couldnt buy a decent watch from a decent watch company.

its showing up at £142 for me now :-(

I used to sell watches for goldsmiths and know a fair bit about high street brands and swiss watches.

Its not a "proper watch" and its biggest failing compared to a real watch is the lack of sapphire crystal glass so after a year's use it might start to look a bit tired and scratched. However the point of a designer watch like this isnt to last for years, its to look good and fashionable for the seasin. Bargain if you can get it for £70.

If you want a proper watch you need to set your budget at a minimum of £400 for a raymond weil or something, perhaps £1500 for a decent omega, £2500 for a decent breitling, 10's of thousands of pounds if you've got very expensive tastes.

A valid reply unlike our friend 'Shareef' up there.

Could i also ask what warrants the price on Omega / Breitling watches ? I went into the Omega store and they are very nice watches. Are they a much higher build and material quality ?

Invicta Reserve watches buy for £200 - £300 awesome swissmade watch

Got this back in November from amazon for £66 and its an awesome watch, looks great and have had lots of positive comments about it, go for it if you can find it for around the same price...

The price increase goes into engineering/build quality/materials most definitely, the mechanisms are very well made and complex, then certification and quality checking. imho what retails at £1500 or so say the omega "bond" seamaster I would say a reasonable price would be £700 or so.

However these luxury brands limit supply which means they can artificially over value their goods - since the recession the luxury brands have increased in price way over inflation...

But the real reason people pay these prices is because if someone who knows their watches spots said understated but nice watch will now know that this man is well to do and not a show off.

well plenty of watches might make you look like a showoff - the seamaster wont. if you pay that much for a showy watch youre just plain arrogant...

Tip: don't put "I may look like a dick" at the beginning of your post unless you want people to think you are one.

I wear a seamaster day-to-day and tbh not many people really notice a high-end watch unless of course they are interested in good watches so in response to your comment about is it worth the risk, if I'm honest I feel in no danger wearing any watches whether on a night out or just day-to-day, and I commute on public transport daily, however i would certainly feel more at risk getting out a top of the range smartphone like an iPhone 4 or these people who have their Macbooks out on the tube, and yeah the price might not be the same but they're a more universally recognised high-value item.
