I don't know a lot about these but they look good, and this is a good price. Has a 1 year warranty.

Fine here.
Fine here too.
If not working search ebay for: 251135971300
Looks interesting but I can't figure out how you control it. Do you need to use in conjunction with a PC or phone or something?

Edit: I see now, either attach a USB keyboard or mouse or you can use phone/tablet to control.
Best to go for the latest MK802 3rd Generation. Around £42 on ebay. Latest technology. Just released. Also has 1GB DDR3.

So can I get one of these for the mother in law as a media player or is it too techy for the old bat :-)

too much heat in too small a space ... as allwinner (SOC) doesnt release drivers for it, the result is the linux is a mess of cobbled together bits and pieces from old android and linux .. a right mess (SATA and video drivers are in a particular mess on the A10 linux) ..

theres a dual CPU core version of this android "stick" from a different SOC maker that has released apparently the full linux source code/driveras and android drivers and its case has plenty of ventilation .. a bit more expensive than this but way better

note these stick devices do NOT have an ethernet port ..

your'e looking for a UG802 Dual Core Cortex A9 Android 4.0 mini PC (already posted here a while ago on these forums)

hukd.mydealz.de/dea…ter

the BIG problem with the Allwinner A10 SOC "stick" devices is that the A10 generates a lot of heat especially when the mali GPU kicks in and youre using wifi etc and many reports of overheating have come to light ... I myself have a mele a1000 A10SOC based device (much larger box with ethernet, multiple usb and critically TRUE SATA connector/drive bay and SATA caddy - £50 on ebay periodically) and its an excellent device BADLY let down by the state of the linux drivers and source code for it (allwinner/mele and the like to blame for this as it relies on GPL but will not release its drivers/GPL linux source)

BUT for me android is a waste of space on one of these devices (the LG ST600 i have eats it for breakfast in every media way with lovefilm, excellent dlna and a decent menu system and very wide codec support) ...
How to use Skype on it ? Is there microphone built in ?

Sorry, but hotukdeals will not let me add link to ebay !!!!!

Just search ebay for "mk802 3rd".

There are significant differences between this and previous MK802, including extra micro USB and electrical protection on HDMI.

As for UG802, looks interesting but not available until September for others to test.

Thanks for that. Shame all of them have to come direct from China.

Is that the dual core version?

I had a play with Plex today on Android and the remote functions work well with an android phone to another android phone so a stick like one of these would work well with an autorun type program.
This is now £49.99

UG802 is dual core version. Strangely with 1 less usb than MK802. Could possibly be heating issues with dual core ?

I will be waiting until late September for better reviews of UG802. Also expect price of MK802 3rd generation to go down by a few pounds as stock reaches more sellers. Maybe even a UK seller.

I'll probably do the same as knowing my luck i'll get stung with import tax by customs.
This is utter rubbish. I bought one at the £36.99 price (now noted it to be 49.99), It has not enough power to decode any high def movies. The wireless range is a total joke. It keeps rebooting itself.
you do get what you pay for. AVOID it like the plague.
You need a media player app that uses hardware decoding ( though you would expect the player installed on the stick to have this - if not use mobo ). The Mali400 graphic chip in these devices can easily decode full HD ( it can even decode quad HD) .
You will get problems if your power adaptor does not supply enough current too ( a standard 500ma USB socket is not good enough).

The A10 chipset sticks usually get good reviews .
