Nothing new. It's coming because wholesale diesel is has been cheaper than petrol for over 6 weeks now. We have 2 stations here that have this for a couple of days now, and all the rest are on parity. This will be a common occurrence in the next few days once they've finished stitching us up and let it filter through to the pumps properly..

Most our stations are only couple pence difference now between unleaded and diesel. Glad I bought a diesel in the end was being tempted to buy 1.4 vw/audi engine.

When i first had a diesel in the 70s diesel was a good bit cheaper than petrol. But iv'e not seen it cheaper than petrol for years.

It was always the case until the late 90s or so that diesel was cheaper at the pump than petrol. Then politicians noticed people switching to diesel, so they ramped up the tax. Diesel is far cheaper to refine than petrol, so the additional cost is either profit or tax.

All about supply & demand though. Demand for Diesel is a lot higher than petrol, hence its always been more expensive. (that's the retailers excuse anyway)

Tried to get some petrol earlier on, couldnt get in because of vans. Now i know why?

I did not realise that there is a different
tax on petrol and diesel. Do you know
what it is?

Hubby has a diesel and noticed for first time in years theres just a 2p between diesel and unleaded at garages.Diesel was still dearer than unleaded though a few days ago when hubby filled up.

Realised my error so deleted my post

The BP mentioned is probably one that has the "cheap" fuel day a couple of times a week.
I'd love to go around changing the signs to expensive fuel 5 times a week.
Those that don't participate in this around these parts still have diesel about 122-125p with petrol about 3p behind.
Havent filled up in one of those garages for years.

Can confirm majority of my local fuel stations are around 114.9 Ppl for Diesel:

Yes, it was a lot cheaper and we were told to buy diesel cars because they were better for the environment.
