Diffuser replacement reeds 100 long for £1.50 @ sainsburys

I had an epiphany - diffuser reeds are just bamboo or rattan sticks (rattan is structuarly similar to bamboo). Bamboo sticks are are also bamboo skewers (which you soak before using) so why pay extra.Cheapest skewers I could find was Sainsburys 100 for £1.50, cheapest 100 diffuser reeds I could find was £8.99.

The problem with diffuser reeds is once they're saturated they don't draw up more liquid even when they dry out. So you end up with lots of liquid left but no smell. I wanted to test them before putting them on here, and they work perfectly.

They're very long so you can break them in half or whatever the length you want and the pointy end helps draw up the liquid.

I've tried to add a link but sainsburys can be a bit funny with links on here. If the link stops working/times out you can enter the product code into the search box on the Sainburys site and it will bring it up Item code: 117049810

I thought I'd add this on to here as many will have got them for Christmas etc.

What is a diffuser reed for? I'm guessing it's some sort of air freshener?
Yes you are right. I've just compared them and they seem to be identical apart from the pointed ends. Thanks for the tip. :¬}

Excellent - really glad it helped someone. I got last year these really nice diffusers but despite still having lots of scent left in they didn't work anymore a bit of googling told me that once the sticks were full that was it, so you don't get enough despite these being sometimes very expensive. And when I looked at replacement reeds they were ridiculously expensive. I've tried an tested these over the last week and I came home about an hour ago and the flat smells lovely.

Also Sainsburys are selling some of their scented ranges including diffusers at half price but the labels were normal. Cotton, Orchid and lime I think and Geranium and lavender. Candles, oils and the diffusers. So the diffusers are £4.50 now, Oils were £1 and the candles were various depending on size.

I think they're fat enough already. Goverment is fighting a war on obesity remember, Pandas also have to share the pain - we're in this together.

Seems appropriate, today.

Never had the problem of oil being left? I get next ones, love 'em

Same here - I just rotate the reeds periodically. Maybe my jars aren't as big as the Op's.

My favourite Next one is the strawberry & cream one I've got in my downstairs loo.
