I have one myself, they are absolutely superb.

You can pause Live TV, record something whilst watching something else you have recorded etc, top notch.

Don't forget Quidco (3%).

I've also got one of these, one of the best things we ever bought, as long as you get a good one, and know about the pros and cons.

Check out the forums on ]Digitalspy for loads of info, but generally.

1. Don't use the compression, it has been known to lead to a loss of your entire library.

2. They are not the quietest of machines, so if you want it for your bedroom then you may prefer an alternative.

3. They don't take well to overheating so are best not in a cupboard, and I wouldn't have it staked on top of another appliance if I were you - we did and it didn't like it.

4. The background screen on the menus etc is disgusting

5. They can be upgraded, bigger hdd, better or no fan, nicer menus, or even updated to the superior FVRT200 software. ]Look here for more info.

6. Remote is a bit bobbins, just remember that the one labelled cancel should really be labelled back and you won't go far wrong.

Like I said though, for the money they are fantastic. Voted hot at this price.

I agree entirely with Mike73 - all of the points!!!

MicroDirect are quite good but they do need a gentle reminder. My first broke after 6 weeks and whilst they readily accepted a return, it was 3/4 weeks before my replacement arrived....all seems good so far

is it poss to use one of these with a sky box INSTEAD of sky plus.
to record progs etc?

No, it's Freeview only.

We had one of those from Microdirect. It packed in after a few months and we returned it. Mircodirect said it was not repairable and exercised their discretion to give us a refund rather than a replacement but they would not refund the original postage, nor would they refund the money it cost to send the duff unit back to them. We lost quite a bit on the deal.

We eventually bought twin tuner Humax, having previously owned a single tuner Humax. It did cost quite a bit more than the Digifusion but its streets ahead on quality and it hasn't missed a beat.

These are very good boxes; can't fault them for what they are or the price!

Although i've got the Digifusion FVRT-90 version up for grabs in the FS/FT thread section, if anybody's interested?

(though I won't post a direct thread link in case I feel the wrath of the mods and admin because of it!)

What is the difference between all the models? I see a 90, 100, 145, 150 and 200 which is the best?

No, but if you can find a friend (to recommend Sky) you can get a Sky+ box free (plus install costs) direct from Sky (overall, It'll cost you around £20 more than this box).

There is a reason why they are always being refurbished - they break ALOT.

Sent mine back 5 times, its now out of warranty and broke again.

***utter rubbish AVOID***** :x

I have had the 90 for some time and I belive this is one of the more reliable units. I love mine. I think it's the only one with a digital audio output (toslink).
I am seriously considering this deal..

actually what I want to ask is what is the tuner like on other models? The 90 tuner is superb so do the others match?

Hope this is better than the Digihome pvr80 I bought from Big Pockets in May. It has finally died after having been less than perfect and is going back tomorrow for refund.

just got to say that out of all the freeview pvrs i have owned (inc humax) this is hands down the best by far...yes there are the odd hiccups but the guide doesnt set the time it actually records the programme....best PVR by far

No it isn't..
The Digihome is much more reliable than this Digifusion model ( quieter, much more stable software and a lot less reported faults).
Personally i would ge the Digihome replaced - its a better machine.

Does anyone know of any reviews between all the similarly priced Twin Freeview recorders?

Am unsure which one to go for...

Many Thanks

Legally the vendor must cover any postage for a warranty issue - don't let them off.

From the digitalspy forums

There are two models of 145 - one has an LED per tuner (so you can see … There are two models of 145 - one has an LED per tuner (so you can see it's recording) and the other doesn't.The 150 has the dual tuner LEDs and a large 4 digit display which show channel number, play etc. It's easy to read from a distance.I know there has been some comment in the past about incorrect use of LEDs with 145/150 models running 0.x.x (200) firmware. There's a good explanation of the problems here:http://philifusion.googlepages.com/firmware.htmThe 200 has a much more modern looking display, with more text displayed, but it's harder to read from a distance - much smaller text and not as bright. When it's recording you get spokes rotating on a wheel - two spokes if both tuners are active. But unlike the 145/150 LEDs, you can't tell which tuner is active. This can be useful if you have problems with one of the tuners - but when/if the box is working fine, it's a bit irrelevant. The 200 also has a few extra holes in the base around the tuners to improve cooling - as to whether that makes any real difference......!!!I think it's worth a few bob extra to get a readable display and tuner indicators that work with 0.x.x formware. As for 150 or 200 - choice is yours.

I ordered one of these. It arrived and looked fairly battered...tried to plug the aerial in and found the plug on the machine was missing!!! Have sent it back at a cost of £6.85!

Am going to send mine back also. Mine was so loud, it made watching TV impossible.
