Utter guff, of course - but amazing price for a 42"
Amazing — your impression of it is pretty much identical to how Tesco themselves have described it. What are the chances of that?
I posted it earlier in the week but people may have missed it as was with other products in the OP

Does anyone have one of these and can comment on performance?

I got one last time they were on offer for my ps4. i only use it for my console and for the money its a cracker for gaming.
there is slight motion blur when playing games but its not off putting. if you use this for console gaming then set hdmi true
black to on and ps4 to full rgb, as for blu ray its also great.
Couldn't even buy a 12 inch portable for that price not that many years ago . absolute bargain

You weren't as flowery with your description Chanchi

You sold it as a supermarket TV.

No Freeview HD - ridiculous on a 42" TV.
Standard definition looks terrible on large screens.

I had a 14 inch portable in... *counts on fingers* 1999 which cost £99, which was a very average price. Do you think you could be exaggerating a touch?

Freeview HD means not just that the tuner is HD, but that the television overall meets the "Freeview HD" standard, which I believe includes iPlayer. However, this does not mean that the internal tuner is not HD, I would guess it is.

What **** is this? Freeview HD has NOTHING to do with BBC iPlayer...

How about providing some evidence otherwise?

And why would you guess it has a HD tuner.... haha since when was a HD panel exactly synonymous with a HD tuner.

If this was in-store on black friday there would be fights to buy one

iPlayer is a streaming service found on SMART TV's, not a broadcast service and absolutely nothing to do with Freeview. If it had a HD tuner it would state it.

Basically If you would consider a 42" TV for £249 in the first place then the reduction makes this an absolute bargain. If you wouldn't and you would notice the shortcomings of this vs say a decent LG, Sony, Samsung then making it cheaper isn't making the TV any better as a TV.
Looks like a very good deal. I'm curious though...what does an Ethernet port allow you to do if it's not a smart TV?
updates from the manufacturer nothing to do with freeview

perhaps the most useless misguided post I have ever read on here. This has a standard definition tuner, simply because it very cheap and I dare say a few years old. Free view HD means nothing more than it can receive HD free view channels. To be honest I can't believe any new TV above 26 inches is sold without it these days
Anybody find a manual for this?

Just wanting to check the resolution via VGA, as wanting to hook two PC's up to this potentially.

The Tesco blurb say it's DNLA enabled - so I guess you could play media from your home network as well as from USB.

You could just buy a Freeview HD box with it, considering the fact that the TV is cheap anyway.
Mmmmm there will be a few of these next week on selling sites for sure!

The 49 inch version is only £30 more if your looking for a larger screen. Bought one on Boxing Day and it's good value for money
Interested in this- but the contrast is 1200:1 and only 50hz so blur might be challenging with fast moving content i.e. Sport or gaming
Does this play movies off a usb pen?
They have these instore at this price too. My local Tesco had a whole stack of them.

It is Outstanding on my panny plasma as is the build quality - my, it even has a real glass front to it unlike cheap tat.

Yes it will. Might not play all file formats though.
Mine was delivered this morning and I'm extremely impressed.

Yes, it's a little plastic-y, but once it's in-situ you can't tell. The bezel is extremely narrow, maximising screen space. The picture on Freeview in SD is absolutely fine and HD content running through my Fire TV and Sky HD boxes looks fantastic.

Highly recommended.

Will this accept a dd5.1 signal via hdmi, I use an Pioneer amp to output Sky HD to HDzone and my current 32G10 doesn't like it when I'm watching Sky1 hd upstairs!
