What are you on about? I just want to know if it's any good & I don't need to be told its made by Vestel! Did you actually read what I asked before you saw the word 'VESTE'L? Nob!

I've got the 49" non-smart version and it's OK, not quite up there in terms of a super sharp picture as the more expensive sets obviously, but for the price, it's great!

Yeah they are Vestel made. They are average, they're not great, some would probably also say below average.

Mentioning Vestel on here seems to bring out the worst in people.....

Very few brands now which aren't vestel manufactured, it's a valid point to ask/mention as it seems that a lot of people still don't realise hence comments such as "Goodmans is a such a great brand" or "my last Toshiba set lasted 25 years so I'm sticking with that brand" etc

I never heard of Vestel before (shows my limited knowledge on TV's). Why is there a huge debate regarding it?

They manufacture a lot of LED TVs which are then sold under various brands, even the lower-end LGs I believe.

After Googling, surprised about the quantity they produce oO

VESTEL AF

I had a Digihome TV in the bedroom for a while. Now replaced by a Panasonic. The difference is considerable. Far superior PQ on the Panasonic. The Digihome is OK for what it cost me, but the PQ reflects the price ....

I agree, I've tried 2 new tv's over the past couple of weeks, one being this, the other being a cheap Toshiba, that was also Vestel. The Toshiba had far better PQ than this, and the sound was slightly better too. The digihome was awful TBH, sound terrible, pq not good, smart features didn't work properly, the digihome app wouldn't connect, a lot of stuff wouldn't playback through the USB, just kept freezing up.

I guess that's where they're skimming on top reduce the costs, but I guess it'll be useful for people not after the best. Or is the PQ really bad?

Or is the PQ really bad?

In the case of my one, as long as the input source was top quality, it was OK. But lower quality input and it really started to show. With high quality input, the PQ was OK. A little grainy, and colours and motion resolution not on par with the Panasonic (a top of the line 32" from a couple of years back, not one of their low end ones).

As I say, for what it cost me (not much) it was OK. But I wouldn't want one as my main TV ....

It wasn't horrendous, but compared to the Toshiba it was miles away, and the Tosh is only £249, has extra hdmi and usb ports.
I also had bad lip sync problems with it that I forgot to mention.

Explained it better than I did but yeah same for me, wasn't close to my 5 year old 32" LG LCD, which was £400 at the time so not top of the range or anything.

Good feedback! I think I'll give the Digihome a miss. Looks like my sister will have to make do with a UMC based set...

Its a very valid point, I bring this up myself but stick to re-badge Panasonic deals.

I don't have any problems with deals like this, you get what you pay for but I have a huge issue when top brand manufactures stick their name on a Vestel and attempt to pass it off as a premium product when its far from it.

Sign of the times perhaps? A lot of manufacturers have sold out to vestel or UMC: Sharp/ JVC / Toshiba / Hitachi / Akai / Sanyo / Philips / Panasonic / Normende / Ferguson / Hyundai / Daewoo / Saba / Linsar - an independent British company! / Polaroid / Celcus / ISIS / Telefunken / Blaupunkt / and most if not all supermarket brands...

Basically there is very little profit in low end TV's now (manufacturing them in house) so manufacturers farm their basic models out to the likes of UMC and Vestel.

Well, we still have Sony (for now) LG and Samsung. Philips TV's even though they're manufactured by TPV are still reasonable quality and a many cuts above Vestel and UMC. Hisense are getting more and more popular and even some of their higher spec stuff is very reasonably priced and built quite well too, people shouldn't be afraid of TV's being made in China.

Simple answer: No. And yes, they are Vestel - you can tell from the interface.

I had the 65" version of this last year. The picture and sound were actually impressively good - no complaint from me there. But the TV casing itself was skewed like a parallelogram, and I kept getting some error about a 'Wi Fi dongle' after a few months. I didn't even use it that much.
