Found 11th Oct
So for anyone looking for a cheap 4K TV or had the disappointment of the cancelled Currys eBay deal earlier today, I found this on Tesco website...

Granted, not close to as good as the Hisense deal and is going to be far from a world beater but not a bad price for what it is.... free click & collect from your nearest store or £3 delivered. I needed a cheap 4k TV for a Christmas present and think this will do... hope it helps someone else out. Blurb below.

The Digihome 49VNBDLED smart TV delivers the latest and greatest content in impressive Full HD. With built-in Wi-Fi and Freeview Play, you get unlimited access to a huge range of live streaming and on-demand content. Watch the latest movies and series on services like All 4, YouTube and Netflix (subscription required). This slim 49-inch TV comes in a stylish black finish.

Large 49-inch screen

Enjoy a stunning Full HD picture on this Digihome TV. 1080p resolution means the 49-inch TV screen is split into small zones for highly detailed and accurate images. Get the most out of immersive HD channels, and experience a truly lifelike picture that doesn’t blur even during fast-paced scenes.

Dolby Digital audio delivers powerful sound to match the picture. Crisp and realistic audio brings your favourite movies to life.

Access to the latest content

Built-in Freeview Play gives you unlimited access to over 70 entertainment channels, including 15 channels in stunning high definition. Watch the latest content from channels like Dave, E4, Film4 and more.

The Digihome TV also has built-in Wi-Fi, letting you access on-demand content services like BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Netflix (subscription required) and more. Watch the latest series and movies around your schedule on your smart TV. The Digihome TV also comes with apps like AccuWeather, BBC Sport and social-media apps so you can keep all your entertainment and information in one place.

Compatible with your devices

An integrated HDMI port is compatible with your games consoles and DVD player, so you can experience all your favourites on the large 49-inch TV. Gain a competitive gaming advantage with powerful audio and a detailed picture. Plug your USB devices in to the USB port to stream home videos and photos on the Full HD TV.

Why not as good as the Hisense deal?

Why not as good as the Hisense deal?

This will be a vestel or some other generic rebranded TV... also doesn't have HDR. I ordered the hisense but received a cancellation email along with everyone else.

Good price, heat added

A lot of TV for the money regardless of the brand, heat

Description on Tesco website / deal text doesn't match specs or title on Tesco website.

"An integrated HDMI port" - specs beneath says 2
"1080p resolution" - title and specs say 4k

2x HDMI
1x VGA
1x SCART
1x Component
1x Ethernet
1x Coaxial audio out
1x Optical audio out
Wifi, Freeview HD, Freeview Play, Miracast

That's a good spot and something I should have noticed when I was copying to paste... the blurb doesn't match the specs sheet. I would imagine it's an over sight on their part as title, specs and picture all indicate 4K but the blurb says 1080p but something I'll be sure to check with customer services in the morning

For what it is, it's not a bad price and by the time 10 bit HDR becomes the norm then you will be able to tale this TV onto Antiques Roadshow and make a profit.

Banned

I actually had a digihome (yup shi*ty name) but none the less, 65" TV
Picture quality was suprisingly good considering what i paid for it..... but obviously after the release of the ps4 pro, i sold it on and picked up a hisense 4k. (still has it's issues though with vertical banding)

all in all though, for a cheaper brand and vestal panel.... it's a good punt at £300

The thing is, a 1080p TV will be better at 1080p. and this will suck at 4k. Thus you will get both poor 1080p and poor 4k...

So i see no reason to purchase it.

I would rather have a 1080p panel than a 4k panel at the moment.
I am unlikely to be watching 4k content regularly anytime soon ( i don't pay for Sky or Cable ) .
Its 2017 and BBC and ITV local news is still only broadcast in standard definition !!

I'm completely confused lol so is this not a 4K tv then? is it worth buying or not lol I need to run my Xbox one s. What does 10 bit panel mean? And what is HDR lol I'm not up on TVs nowadays and don't want to spend much

A simple google search will answer these questions.

Tv is 4K but the blurb on website is wrong, specs are right though... 8/10 bit panels are for now irrelevant but don't quote me on that as it seems to confuse most people including me! HDR' stands for High Dynamic Range, and it is the next big thing in the video world, primarily when it comes to 4K TVs and 4K content. The term originates in photography, and refers to a technique that heightens a picture's dynamic range – the contrast between the brightest whites and the darkest blacks... have no idea what this would be like for gaming, as my knowledge is pretty limited! Copied some of the above from the net best to research the set to see if it fits what your looking for.

Smart TV will this record programs onto an external hard drive?

Unsure, I've bought to give as an Xmas present so can't test it to see... it has freeview play so you can scroll back through tv listings to watch. I've done a search of the product code but can't seem to see anywhere if this will record.

Colour was a big step.
Stereo was a big step.
Digital was a big step.
Flat screen was a big step.
Size per pound was a big step.
Everything else is only incremental , take it or leave it .
Smart tv's are the worst internet devices available , better only than empty tin cans and string.
As mentioned already BBC and ITV local news is still only SD.

Bought this tv last week. Audio wasn’t quite as good as the old LG but for the price I can’t complain and picked up a sound bar for £60 anyways.

The Netflix button on the remote is fast and responsive. Works really well and Netflix detects it’s a 4K tv so shows you 4K content to watch. The YouTube button on the remote works well too. It has built in WiFi and seems to handle the connection fine when streaming 4K content.

Menu options are a bit slim but you can mess with picture and backlight etc. Haven’t tried any of the freeview options yet.
