Its a subsidiary of Vestel en.wikipedia.org/wik…tel make a lot of the unique 'supermarket' stuff like Sainsbury's electronics brand. In reality its probably made in the same factories as a lot of LG and Samsung stuff, certainly the components.

Having said that I have had my samsung for 10 years (hence my looking to update) and its never let me down

Nice enough TV but the Menu is annoying.

Not a 150bit TV? No thanks.

Have to agree with that comment. Components are pretty much generic today, even your higher-end manufacturers such as LG and Samsung would be buying many parts from the same bins that Vestel dip into. The difference would be a higher spend on R&D so for instance the image processing side of things in an LG or Samsung would have a superior design to say a Vestel, so even with the same components the picture quality will be better. Rarely, there may be differences in components e.g. the power supply board may use higher-quality capacitors so you run a lower chance of getting blown caps after a few years of watching TV (Google for this issue on some Highsense TVs for instance).

Having said that even LGs and Samsungs do go wrong. They key is, if you are investing north of £500, try to get an extended guarantee (i.e. buy from JL or RS, or even Currys who now do 5 year warranties on some TVs).

At this price, for £350 this TV will probably please 90% of us.

Heated for a good price on a 55-inch screen.

Well HDR's a new and expensive technology and if you want a TV with a good increase in dynamic range you're looking at spending 3-4x as much. You'd come out ahead even if you buy twice.

Got the 49" version of this on the Tesco deal last year (£279 I think), I got it because we use a projector for daily viewing and if it packed up we didn't have a back up. For £279 its pretty good, although SD is awful and so are the "smart" features but 4k netflix and HD are very good.

Got a Samsung 7000 series.
Speeds through menus, loads of settings.

Most of the components inside will be made by Samsung. I like the on screen guide.
Dissapointed by FreeSat, doesn't compare to my $ky box without any subs.

Plays everything, lets down the Sony Blueray player I have.
On the Samsung TV, I can skip through mkv videos fast or slow.
The Sony doesn't allow fast forward of mkv videos unless you re-encode it on your pc.

It's 349 for 49inch and 379 for 55inch

ive the larger version of this tv the 65 inch been spot on not missed a beat in the last 18 month so would recommend this brand, it is a rebranded vestel make which makes some tvs for Panasonic and other makes so I wouldn't be scared of this brand

ive ordered one for bedroom upgrade our 10 year old Samsung 51 inch plasma bargain for £349 with £7 quidco back and £17.50 co op off next purchase as a co op member

Very good tv it came with freview HD I think, but u used sky HD anyway.

My toddler son 20 months old hit the LCD with a Broom stick repeatedly and broke it

I held back from and new TV until he grew a bit older

Now I found this cracking deal

Got to say the youtube and netflix were slot on 4k especially the youtube
