I was tempted to buy this the last time it was posted but reading some of the comments about the reliability and quality of it really put me off so think I'll give this one a miss.
Could really do with a new TV recorder. Can anyone recommend a decent one at a reasonable price? Thanks

No hdmi so not worth buying for most people even this cheap.

Not freeview HD so not much point having HDMI

Unless you wanted to route it through an AV amp that supports HDMI, but not SCART.

But you're right if you are going for a direct connection. As long as your TV does decent upscaling. And you use a decent SCART lead. And you have a free SCART connection on your TV .....

I'm in the same boat, seems every PVR gets sl**ed off. I need something and I'm not fussed about HD tv so I went for a Humax from humaxdirect in the end. £100 though + £6 p&p so more expensive than this but its also a brand

Hard to tell what would be the better buy - both of these models seem to have plenty of unhappy owners

Anecdotal I know but I'm about to return one of the Dion 500GB ones to them which they shipped with one of the dual tuners non-functional, so refurbished doesn't appear to mean properly checked (in addition to any other issues about the longer term reliability of the boxes).
(I've had a previous, different, Dion box from Tesco outlet which is still going strong)

I'm a bit in the dark here, could use some advice. Just got Sky for first time, can I use this to supplement my sky plus box?

This will have it's own Digital TV tuner's, Not.. Sky so can only record Freeview me thinks..

got the 320GB Dion one for £20 about 2 weeks ago, so this is cold for me.

Bought the Technika 250Gb version of this about eighteen months ago from the Tesco Ebay store. Provided you update it the the latest firmware it should be fine. Mine came with old firmware (V1.9), leaky remote control batteries and previous customer recordings, so so much for being refurbished.

Firmware available here:
