I don't think it's Silly at all

Is this a one time product? I don't see any of the disposables available on the site. Would be good to be able to test more than once with the same kit.

Bowel screening my a*se

I'm skeptical of anything if the daily mail printed it

My dad died of bowel ca quite young, I am sceptical but if it works then it's worth it.

Free bowel screening at 50 in Scotland. oO

I agree, if it works. 100% worth using it! Sorry to hear and hope I didn't offend you.
Guess we are reaching the age when we can home test for more and more?

If you are that concerned you could just ask your GP to be tested.

Great, so now everyone with traces of blood in their stool will automatically think they have cancer!
There are many things that can cause it, including Ulcerative Colitis and Crohns Disease which I have.
You can easily see blood on the bog roll just from having a hard log and causing bottom fissures.
If you are worried, go see a doctor rather than worrying yourself to death from the results of this.

There us no gp equivalent of this test. There is hope a stool test for colon cancer that does not depend on blood will be developed. If you have a looser stools fir 3 weeks or more then to see your gp. colonoscopy is the gold standard for identifying colon cancer. Blood in the stool often in bowel screening tests is secondary to diverticular disease or hemorrhoids, so a positive test with this doesn't mean your very likely to have bowel cancer, but I would advise discussing any positive result with your gp and expect to have bloods/ examination of your bottom end! (speaking as a gp)

There are suggestions gp can request but this is not available in my area. This is really meant to be a screening test and not a diagnostic test.

Paraphrasing Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: For all the good it's done me, I might as well have stuck it up my @rse!

Worth it just for the peace of mind. Thanks for posting this.

I don't think this is accurate. The kind of blood they're looking for is not visible. Blood in your stool is definitely something to be concerned about and you should get it checked out. I think (don't take my opinion as fact please) that normally visible blood is just piles. Do go and see the doctor though.

I'm a gp and there IS faecal occult blood testing. you have to test 3 separate stools. its not a popular test as you have to get stool onto a card and I can imagine its quite awkward to do. its not a great test, there are lots of false positives (blood there but no problems) and some false negatives (cancer there but no blood detected). symptoms of bowel cancer are far better at picking it up:
weight loss, persistent change in bowel habit (particularly looser) for more than 6 weeks, family history, anaemia (low iron in the blood)

I think a one off "digital" f.o.b test for 35 is a scam in my opinion. be vigilant of the symptoms stop smoking, cut down alcohol and you are less likely to develop bowel cancer.

Oh dear, a GP that doesn't know the difference between your and you're, what is the world coming to?

EDIT: that was referring to the first one, not the one that commented at the same time as me.

wonder if they do a deluxe model with vibrate and heat function?

i take it you pop it up?
might turn someone with regular use

ughhh, that's it,. I'm not going to open HUKD until after I've had breakfast

Soooooo.... is this an oral or an **** test? .... (Serious question)

It's a load of crap that

Is it dishwasher safe?

Only for the paranoid!

This sounds terribly over priced to me - do get tested but Google "bowel cancer test" to get your stool samples tested at a laboratory, the same lab the NHS uses (cost around £25 when I did it). In a good many countries in the western world tests are given at 50. I've lost three people to bowel cancer, one in his forties and two in their fifties, so testing at 60 in the UK is just not good enough. And the government wonders why they don't catch enough cases early.

Couldn't read his/her own writing?

Do you sit on it?

Stick it up your butt. Heat

Great if it works, caught early and its curable bright red blood is normal nothing to work about, dark red is worth investigating if this is bought and saves one person well worth it........bowel cancer is no joke !

I wonder if it's possible to get the test strips separately so you keep using the device whenever you need it?

He/she is a GP not English teacher

Has to better than the alternative digital screening test for home use which involves a pair of Marigolds, some KY and the index digit.

Your comments seem to miss the fact that so many people have no symptoms at all. My sister was a nurse in a hospital. She was feeling run-down. Doctors told her it might be the menopause. She had bowel cancer and died within 2 years. She was 49, never smoked and had otherwise lived a healthy life. Screening might well have helped.

Its true. English teachers are less qualified.

What a stupid and very annoying product, company and boots!
What people (who spend £34) on a kit may want to know is whether this is a one off test kit or whether it can be used again. It took me ages to find this, which seems to show it is re-useable.
There's plenty about the new company Sure, which recons it's a good investment, but scant information about the product itself which is apparently called bsure:

Ah thanks for that. Looks quite different to this model. It's a sound investment if it's reusable in my opinion.
