I wouldn't go for this brand personally, but I hope such deal brings down prices from the likes of Humax and Panasonic.

Why not? Very highly thought of piece of kit in the PVR world. Basically it's the same as the Humax in a different box and £100 cheaper. Check out the reviews as other than some units with noisy fans (which you can return and exchange, check out the threads on the AVForums) this is a great machine. Personally I think the 500Gb machine at £185 from John Lewis is a better buy as you get the great 2 year JL no questions asked warranty.

The 500GB model is only a few quid more at JL so this isn't a very good deal.

This is the same price as at Amazon, which is many people's preferred retailer. This is also its usual price at Currys/Dixons/PCWorld, so only a "deal" if you can get the price down further with a code and/or enhanced cashback. I'd agree with killie99 that the JL deal (500GB for £185) is better.

I have the single tuner version and the SD picture quality is not a patch on my old Pace Twin.

seen about 3 or 4 returned over the past 2 weeks with software lockups in the middle of recording....get the Humax

I always go for well known brands when buying electricals and I have never heard of Digitalstream. With the 2-year John Lewis guarantee it might not be such a risk, but I'm hoping the £300 Humax one will drop in price soon.
