I recently purchased some IP cameras from the deals posted on here, so needed some longer cables and found these

Don't really need 'em, but cheap. Ordered. Such is HukD!
Good deal, ordered. Thanks.
I've been looking for one of these for my dash-cam. Cheers
affiliate6 for 5p off whoop whoop
ordered a couple, you never know when this length of cable is needed...cheap..worth a gamble
don't really need one but for this price couldn't resist... hehe. Only buying for because of the 3m length and some reviews in banggood website... fast charging cable... sounds good for this price.
Good deal but they probably won't last long.
Bought 4. I'm sure I'll find a use for em
Thanks OP ordered 3.

States in description these are 5v 1amp so not sure these will fast charge any device??

Even if they don't it's still a bargain if they last a few months.

Doesn't work on limited offer products but fortunately these cables are not classed as "limited offer."
Be aware that 10 feet isn't exactly long if using this as a power source for something.
These will possibly be thin and therefore high resistance. Charging will be slow. If using as leads for power supplies then the voltage dropped across the cable may be high (depends on the current being drawn)
It's a 1 amp cable. If you plan using it for charging, it will take forever and likely burn out very quickly. Not worth 1p. A usb cable is not a usb cable. It took me years to learn that. What you are looking for is the AWG rating, (thickness of copper wire), which determines the amps it can carry. The lower the better. At least 24 AWG if you want to fast charge. Best go for 20 AWG.

That's good advice, but not the whole story:

- You need to know if it's copper or CCA - copper conducts much better
- Resistance is proportional to length, so a short cable with thinner cores will work as well/badly as a longer cable with thicker cores. 3m for 79p is going to be no better than wet string - if expecting fast charging, prepare for disappointment.

Resistance is obviously also inversely proportional to cross sectional area (CSA) of the wire. Also it's the CSA of the conductors in the cable and not the outside diameter that includes the insulation. As you said, a short, thick cable is best. Long ones with feeble internal wires will be useless. As a general rule, if the cable is cheap then it's going to be useless unless you are using it overnight to charge.

Yes - I was quoting a post which mentioned wire gauge from which you can look up cross-sectional area of the conductors. That was the half of the story I was referring to.
Is this some kind of physics-off? If you guys aren't interested in these 'crap' cables, why are you here?

Simple - to warn you against wasting your money on them. Perhaps you might even - shock horror - learn something!
Would these charge my PS4 controller
I bought another 3 metre cable and the charging speed was much slower than any other cable I've used, is it the length or the cable?

Bit of both really, & the charger too - here's a 'real-life' example (but with the same cable make): How cable length and chargers affect charge rate

Power Supply: 5V 1A

It is wrong info... I have done electronics and AMP will be determined by the transformer not by the wire.

These wires can easily handle 2-5 AMP so as long as your transformer (plug where the usb goes in) can give 2AMP, it will act like a fast cable.

Hope this helps.

I disagree. How do you know these cables can "handle 2-5 AMP"? What is their resistance?
Mine arrived a few days ago - working fine, thanks op. Only bought for powering IP cameras (so did not need supersonic speed or anything close). Bought a couple & saved at least a few pence on the total if I'd got it from anywhere else (next cheapest I can presently find - 87p each: aliexpress.com/ite…tml)

Both IP cameras from Banggood turned up today, so not a bad start buying from them.
They'll all do supersonic speed no problem - it's not the AC that's the problem, but the DC - the current needed to charge things up!
