Not expecting this to go hot but had my eye on this for a couple of months at 625 quid, now down to 498. Great price for this although I realise some people will think that amount of money is still daft for an electric fire! But these Opti-Myst models are by far the most realistic looking 'real flame' alternatives.

Available in 3 colours; Black, Red and White/Cream.

Deal ends 6/4/18.

So its an electric fan heater with a pretty bit on the top? I suppose if you want a fireplace, but dont have gas its a good option.
We have one. Very realistic but the fan heater was fairly noisy from the start and has started to get worse (about 4 years old now)

Look on the bright side - much less chance of this reducing your abode to rubble
Not sure I’d be bothered refilling the water tank

Know what you are saying but we were originally going to install a wood-burning stove then the bloke down the road got one and we see him in all weathers endlessly chopping wood and his back garden is beginning to resemble a timber merchant so figured re-filling a water tank is probably a lot less taxing

Collecting wood and wielding an axe to it is all part of the appeal! Better than an old shed anyway for getting away from the missus
I have a Dimplex Opti-Myst, it's fantastic. Visitors/Friends/Family always think they are real flames, it looks so realistic. We rarely use it for heat. We wanted it just to give us a cosy, real log fire vibe (Which we really wanted in our home but can't have). You can also buy an additional fake flue pipe that sits on top and either goes into a wall at a 90' angle or straight up to a boarded chimney - to give it a little more authenticity! Water doesn't need replacing that often. We got ours on AO with a voucher for cheaper than B&Q

I would have thought the axe itself would be enough to keep her out of your way

Yes, plan to buy one of these. Can I ask which one you chose as there's an 'official' Dimplex one but B&Q also do a much cheaper own brand one? Dimplex also do a 'fake' slate hearth but it looks too small to me.
