Recently had a small family get together at Ember Inn at Woodhatch nr. Reigate: excellent value, very well presented with reasonably priced drinksl! Sorry to sound like an advert but staff were well trained to boot.

I quite agree, the food is normally really good quality and the drink prices are superb. Really recommend these places. The offer has been on for a while but they also do Grill nights & Curry nights for £5.99 available in the evenings and that price includes a pint of beer or glass a wine/soft drink!
I'm sure they do vary from place to place but worth a try if you have never been. Enjoy.

I will certainly give this a try - thanks!

As usual it's sod you if you're a vegetarian. Macaroni cheese is revolting.

We have one of these near our work and go every Friday lunchtime. The food is a very good standard (I'd say the best chain pub restaurant I' ve ever been to).

Chicken burger is great (butterfly breast)
Fish and Chips are fantastic and is what most of us usually have.
The gammon is also worth a go.

Another bonus is the staff at our local pub normally let you off if there is an odd number off you so everyone just pays £3.50.

Please note I dont know about the other places, but no children are allowed.

I have used The Sussex Cricketer at Hove on several occasions and found it a pleasant experience; good food, good value and friendly. My mother lives nearby and always enjoys lunch there - she is 90 on 4 August and will almost certainly be celebrating it there! The pub adjoins the cricket ground and customers can use the car park there on non-match days - very useful in an area where street parking is not easy.

The website also shows a two-for-one offer on other main meals (discount code given after signing-up for newsletter) but this expires on 31 July.

Then just eat meat?

This is a very old offer which has recently been extended for a short while. Good pubs, OK food but 'before 5pm' pretty much limits it to lunch. Offers at Beefeater, etc. are much more flexible.

Not voting cold, just another perspective.

Do they really not allow kids, at least during the daytime? Shame.

That's correct - they try to maintain an 'adult environment'. Based on my experience of Tesco today a child-free oasis is very welcome. Some kids may be well behaved but I sense the majority of parents don't understand / don't care! Sorry if that's not you but you will still know exactly what I mean.
