Antbody know how the 20th Anniversary edition here is different?

Probably about time I replaced my vinyl.

Mixed in 5.1 rather than stereo.

Quality

bought the ablum on cassette and vinyl think in was 1985 still have them both

excellent deal

excellent heat added

Great album. Piece of history.

One of the first albums aimed at the CD market.
First album to be fully digitally recorded.
First CD to sell a million copies.

And what's more, a damned fine album. Heat added.

I bet that would sound fantastic in 5.1 the album sounded superb on a decent system just in stereo.

Ry Cooder's "Bop 'til You Drop" was the first digitally recorded album in 1979 (it's a great album too). Apparently he hated the resulting sound.

BTYD was DAD recording - not DDD as far as I know. BIA was DDD - digital all the way through, with no analog mixing. First recorded DAD was "Flim & The BBs".

That long drum intro into the album version of Money For Nothing!

I'm actually not a huge fan of Knopfler's solo stuff but seeing him live even today is worthwhile. I think half of what he plays at his gigs is DS material because that's what most of the audience want to hear.

Classic album, which I still have on vinyl, but at this price, and especially since it's in 5.1, I guess it's time I replaced it.
Thanks as ever OP!

is this a SACD?

I don't think this, or the 20th anniversary posted above includes the 5.1 mix.
You'd need the SACD or DVDA version and suitable equipment to decode it.

I have the SACD and it sounds amazing!

The SACD is meant to sound amazing.

This is not an album. This is a work of art.

Great price for a truly great album.

I think I have this in every available fromat from the last 20 years now! haha

I think i might have to make an investment in this, Love it

Would of been perfect with Sultans of Swing added into the mix.

Now showing as 4.75?

Was reading about that album last night in Hifi news. Ahhh the days of aad, add, ddd where's the +1 cool geek point button...

Mine arrived today.

Mine arrived today and I did something I haven't done for years - possibly 15 years - put an album on and listened to it from first track to last track, in one go. I have 2600 songs on my iphone and never listen to an album on it's own.

Superb it was too.

Mine arrived yesterday. Am I alone in thinking it's good, but not the work of genius I thought it was when I was 20? It made me want to listen to their first album or the live double album (or maybe Lover Over Gold) - on vinyl.

That and the stupid jewel case was smashed to bits!
