There is a connection required looking at the flight timings. The only non stop flights between London and Dallas are operated by BA and AA. Still a hot price though.

Direct means same flight number but not necessarily non stop. Unfortunately, this means you still have to get out to clear immigration and Customs.

How did you get them images? Does that really show the prices of rooms at their cheapest and most expensive?

Check for yourself! Obviously prices change over time but if you check now, I'm sure you'll find them fairly accurate.
Sinagpore Airlines regularly do £250-300 return flights (with luggage) from Manchester to Houston. I'd rather fly Singapore Airlines but LHR is much easier for most people (including myself).

Flew it last year, 2 weeks in Texas/Louisiana was great!

Also ~ £350 which you've listed as expensive is still a good deal and not expensive at all!!!
