Am I the only one who doesn't really get LA?? I prefer San Francisco and head north or east.
I find LA just busy and a little obnoxious??
Great deal by the way, not knocking that.

For this time of the year this is smoking!!
I did skyscanner's "check the whole month" thing to see what dates have cheapest prices and I was able to find some slightly different to these, but with British Airways.

For summer months in LA this is a cracking deal
Thanks, OP! Great deal as it's with Virgin. Just got back from LA, and it was a cracking flight on their 787 Dreamliner. (9 hours 20 minutes!) I would use Virgin Atlantic every time, even if at a slight premium to BA, whose craft are not as modern, and have the added concern of possible strikes and delays.

Brilliant price from Manchester. Shame it’s in banks of 1 week.

Not that I want to stay in LA for 1/2 weeks but this is a great base to explore California and head over to Vegas.
Bit hard without luggage, nice price though for those it suits!

BA have reached an agreement with the pilots so no more strikes. And BA also fly a 787 to LAX.
The actual cost to airline for UK to NY is around £350 so say around £400 for LA. Anything cheaper will be subsidised by 1st and Business Classes. Happy days.

When searching the whole month is there a way to also search only direct flights?
I find cheap fares in the month view only to find they are 4 stops taking a week.

Unfortunately no, but when you do select dates that look cheap, you can choose on the next screen to only show direct only. Seems like Virgin & BA are both doing direct flights for cheap in this period though. I managed to find BA flights plus 1 checked luggage each for just over £300.

Thank you.
I flew with both BA and Virgin to Vegas this year and although Virgin were somewhat better, if I’m getting a cheap flight I’m not too arsed.

Is the BA deal from London?

That 7th June flight to LAX is perfect but I’d like to return about 12 days later via Vegas but would make returning via LAX if the right deal came up.

I love LA. I find there's lots to do - multiple beautiful beaches, funfairs galore, theme parks, studios, great variety of places to eat which are also cheap (mexican and korean street food is delish!). I prefer it to the more suburban San Francisco
Any recommendations on hotels? I might pop over for a break on my larry.

Didn't clock it at first but I was only searching from London outbound! Seems like there's a good chance you can nab a deal from Heathrow as well as Manchester!
Play around with the dates on skyscanner. I've even seen prices go up just in the time since I started searching but still seeing ~315 with checked baggage from London return to LAX, from mid May to June. Those prices are usually £500+

If you are using expedia, go through Topcashback. On my recent trip to LA, I did this, and got 11% cashback for 2+ night hotel bookings. Also, you usually have the option with expedia, to cancel hotel bookings up to 2 days before, so can rebook if the price drops, which it often does, especially with the fluctuating exchange rates.
I book all hotels in separate transactions, so I can cancel and rebook just one booking, without losing the cashback rate, which also fluctuates weekly between 6-11% weekly.
Car hire is also cheaper through Expedia, and you can cance up to 6 hours before. 3 days for a Ford Mustang convertable cost me £86 on my last trip, and Topcashback was 10%, so net cost of £77.40 with Budget Rentals.

Very tempted to book this for me and parents after a successful trip to nyc on virgin in September. Can someone help me with a decent itinerary for 5th-14th June? Thanks

Some places off the top of my head worth checking out: Santa Monica pier, Getty Museum, Griffith Tower, Universal Studios, Los Angeles zoo, TCL Chinese Theatre (where film premieres are held), Hollywood walk of fame, Venice beach, Abbot Kinney Boulevard...
None of this includes good food places to eat and not even expanding further south where you can go to likes of Newport & Laguna

LA traffic is horrendous, just factor this into your travel plans.
Great price. If we didn't have a 1year old me and OH would be snapping these up. As said above, I wouldn't stay in LA long, visit the landmarks and scoot off. We were at the Hollywood stars when the sun went down, it got really rough really quickly. Drug addicts everywhere. Quite similar to Sheffield where I work actually

I didn't like SF when I went, extremely expensive (even more than London) and some of the areas around Union Square (like Tenderloin) remind me of a third world country. Homeless people with needles lying about the place. I'm not even particularly sheltered, I grew up in Stoke lol

Yes, LA is disgusting unless you like the smell of urine and weed.

Nobody does crazies, crack heads and crystal meth bums like the USA. They are in every major city...moreso in places like Miami and LA than NY in my experience.

Surprisingly, if you want a city with needles and drugs on the open street, go to Frankfurt. One of the grimmest cities I’ve been to.

Does anyone know if its cheaper to just pay for the luggage at the airport / virgin direct, on virgin's website say the standard charge is £45 a case but my travel agent is quoting £60

This appears to stop in JFK for refuelling as per new tariffs.

Otherwise, as stated.

Kindest regards

Thanks.

Is your travel agent quoting both ways? The £45 at the airport is one way (but waived for delta status)
