Great price for a direct return flight to New York with Virgin Atlantic especially as dates into May are included! £263 to book directly with Virgin Atlantic if you would prefer to do this.

To book:
1) Search for suitable dates on Skyscanner or TravelUp. Tuesday - Tuesday 1 week trips normally work well. Some example dates are given below although more are available too. If searching via Skyscanner you will need to select TravelUp as the agent (this is so you can apply the code in the next step)
2) You will need to apply the code VCLOUD£15 at checkout (£15 discount).

You will need an ETSA to enter the US ($14)

Why would a flight from London to east coast USA, go miles out of the way to refuel on the west coast??
Just back from NYC, with Virgin Atlantic.

Flight on Saturday afternoon was about 2/3 empty, on a brand new A350 plane (with fairly large seats in economy, large entertainment screen and an amazing tail cam).

Return flight last night was not full either. They seemed to have almost one flight per hour from JFK on Thursday evenings. JFK itself is a mess, and makes LHR look good in comparison.

I believe I paid around £270 for the return (including one checked in bag). Highly recommend Virgin Atlantic, particularly compared to BA

Thanks OP. I'm looking to go in late Nov / early Dec 2019, and that's still only £60more than your price. Great deal. Heat added!

If BA cancelled your flight, you can call them directly to rebook your flight. Since BA cancelled your flight, they have to give you an alternative.
Booked several times with Travelup due to lower price. Twice i had my flight rescheduled to different days, Travelup took days to give an alternative, so I searched on skyscanner for other flights, called the airline company (AirChina and United second time) and they helped.
Yes

I sorted the new flights with the airline company direct. AirChina even gave us a one night stay in Beijing as the only suitable flight was the day before.
Maybe with BA is different.
Yes BA were having none of it cos we didnt book direct with them

We’re clearly talking about over the river in Newark. Plenty of nice parts of NJ.

My initial comment was to somebody who suggested staying in Newark for a cheaper hotel.
