This. You don't need to pre-order games anymore (unless they are a really good price, this isn't), they don't sell out

I find that months before release you get the best preorder price...then a month or so before release the preorder price goes up (as I assume demand picks up). Once the game is released, it can take a month to drop to an attractive price. So surely there is a benefit to preordering in advance if you want the game for launch day.

For example, I pre-ordered Ghost of Tsushima for £44.85 from ShopTo months ago...now we're nearing the release it's gone up to £48.85. I assume it will take a month to drop to <£40. I personally rather have the game on launch, for a few pounds more and usually with bonus DLC included for preordering.

It becomes more of a problem when there is a fair chance that the game will tank (as Dirt 4 did) - £4 is a small amount to loose in comparison to the £20+ if the game tanks quickly, most wouldn't see that as an attractive price to take a gamble on.
I remember when Dirt 3 was about £30-35 to pre-order on Xbox 360. Used to love these games but have since moved on to Forza Horizon.
Zero effort went into that box art.
Having a great time with Dirt Rally 2.0 on Game Pass at the moment. Fantastic game. I have also played Dirt 4 but it's not 4K and it doesn't have HDR and feels more casual. I'm assuming Dirt 5 will also be more of a casual game, right?

That’s temporary cover not final boxart.

Probably to make it more accessible to wider gaming audience
Hoping they go back to how Dirt 2 & 3 were!
Best price can't wait for this, loved the previous games, thanks preordered!!
Do you come with the car? oh you
Loved Dirt 2. Dirt 3, was ok ish, Showdown pants, Dirt 4 dull. Not sure I’ll get this one. Apart from dirt 2, got them all for way less than £10 and still didn’t take to them.
Dirt Rally are completely different games, but I like them - especially in VR.
For arcade racing I go Forza H4 at the moment. Then for something between arcade and sim I go to Forza 7.
You would have to be Brian Mad from Madcastle to pre-order this. Grid 2019 was...well..... and barring F1 (which fans still say is buggy af) they haven't released anything outstanding since Grid 2 in 2013.
I thought Dirt 4 was decent but not great. Dirt 3 was definitely the highlight of this series for me. Loved every minute of it. Dirt 2 was great as well. Really hoping they go back to that style with this game. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for this, just purchased it this way. Not too fussed if it's not great as at least it will give me something to play on the XSX at launch.
I thought smart delivery was for digital purchases, does it worth with physical as well ?
So hard to get good racing and flying games its like they dont know how to make them now the halt and catch fire generation have retired!

Works with both Digital and Physical.

(Xbox wire)
"If you purchase the Xbox One version of a supported title, we will deliver the best version of it to your Xbox One, as usual. If you decide to jump into the next generation with Xbox Series X, we will automatically provide the Xbox Series X version of the game at no additional cost when it becomes available.
And it’s not just limited to games that you purchase digitally; physical discs of Xbox games can also support Smart Delivery."

Thanks for that.
Dirt 4 was a fantastic game. i will wait. no rush
Dirt 4 was pretty boring, the procedurally generates tracks just ended up being lifeless. I’ll keep an eye out for reviews but I’ll likely stick to Dirt Rally 2 for now (which is a fantastic rally game). This seems to be catering even more for the arcade/casual racing market.
I playing dirt 4 at the moment and find it very repetitive if 5 is anything like it I’ll give it a miss this time
