The Royal Borough of Greenwich, in partnership with TfL, is offering reduced cost locks and free bicycle marking to residents and students.

Known as the 'Goldilocks' scheme, the council is making top of the range Kryptonite locks that sell for £80 available for the heavily discounted price of £29.99.

To be eligible for these locks, you must be a resident in Greenwich or a student living on campus in Greenwich and have your bike marked with Bike Register. If your bike has not been marked, you can get it marked for free.

There are a number of bike marking events taking place within the borough throughout May where you can get your bike marked for free, receive advice on how to keep your bike secure and receive your vouchers to purchase the Kryptonite locks.

While this offer strictly speaking is for Greenwich residents only, I did not have to confirm my address, neither did the police check whether my address was in the borough before they issued me the voucher, so in theory you may be able to get this without living and Greenwich.

Cycling up to Greenwich can be quite nice if you can deal with disappointment of being turned away. At the very least the marking will be free regardless.

Can I get an explanation for why this is cold. The lock alone retails at £79
Don't forget to regularly grease all keyholes and moving/connectible parts to stop the tealeaves from super gluing your Lock's!
Does anybody know which Kryptonite model? The problem with the top-of-the-range New York ones, is they are very heavy, so not everybody's cup of tea.

Not everybody lives in London?

Sadly in this day and age with battery powered angle grinders I won't leave my bike anywhere but the bike lockers.

That's why the title says GREENWICH RESIDENTS ONLY! To vote cold just because you don't have access to it is silly.
You will have to produce some form of ID when you get to the locations with the locks to prove you live or study on the borough. This design whilst a little weighty works so that you would need two or three angle grinder blades as the outer plastic is designed to melt into the blades and make them ineffective. to get through the lot
