Well the new QLED top end sets are way better than OLED so they are doing something right. Google reviews of the Q90R: https://www.avsforum.com/samsung-65-q90-qled-hands-phenomenal-4k/

Meathotukdeals

The q stands for quantum. That's scientific. The TARDIS uses these panels. Whoo weee hooooo, whoooo hoooo. And the led is to say these are heavy and don't click and collect by yourself. I'm an expert. :{

Why on earth is this called QLED, to fool simple people? There is no such technology, it's just marketing BS This is just a plain old LCD TV that Samsung have been making for decades.

Ladies can you put your hand bags down and act like adults please

Ashan85

Helpful for none. That's exactly the point you 'tabula rasa'. I'm done with you. Legend has it you'll still write the same thing in 2022.

Common.Sense

Oh dear, the jealous attitude is clear. It seems you cannot afford a large television. You should have worked harder and educated yourself better. Sorry, to disappoint, I do not live in a council estate. I have a very large lounge. If you do not like the comments, that are helpful to some, ignore them, instead of posting your vitriol. Intelligent people want to know the lowest ever price. Many sites provide such data as well as price alerts and price fluctuations. Not everyone is jealous like you.

Ashan85

Not jealous. I just pity you coming here to all deals and just copy pasting the same line. Shut it already. Keep the deals clean and don't mention that little miracle that will never happen. Why don't you get it? Good for you, you now have council estate size tv. Bragging tool

Common.Sense

Ooooh, so abusive. I purchased the 65" Q8 television in the December deal and the Samsung S9 for £353. Are you jealous? Your abuse and anger seems to indicate this.

Jamie_Adams

What's JL pal? Havent heard of that shop

Tony_DR

Not really no. QLED FALD approaches OLED black levels. For instance in a pitch black room, parts of the QLED Q9FN screen that display black are utterly invisible. There is no blooming. Also the Q9FN shows more visible detail in very dark picture areas than OLED. Not to mention QLED hits well over 3,000 Nits brightness versus barely exceeding 1,000 For OLED. Also QLED has a wider colour gamut. And if you are a gamer then auto game mode support, Freesync 2 and HDR10+ support are also reasons to buy QLED. I also have an OLED but prefer the Q9FN. It's a way way brighter and more colourful picture. Noticeably more impressive - if money if is no object make sure you view the Q9FN. It's often considered the best 4K HDR screen money can buy for now.

spectra7045

Aren't the blacks still better on an oled. Just wish they would make these high end sets arond 49 inch as I cant fit a 55 inch in and the wife wont let me demolish the fire surround.

Tony_DR

The new 2019 QLED sets have a similar viewing angle to OLED - which was the only notably inferior aspect of QLED over OLED, versus the numerous advantages.

You'll have nothing to worry about anewman, had my C8 since black Friday and still pleasantly surprised with the picture every day. Just back from a friends house, he's just bought a 65" Samsung - the picture quality is absolutely awful and there is no comparison. Enjoy your new tv (y)

anewman

No lol just my standard thickish lined curtains. I can't imagine it's as bad as is sometimes made out, though I'm aware the "store" modes try to make them look brighter.

Did you also order blackout blinds?

Just done this thanks OP

malcolmhughes

Yes very pleased - everything looks better than I was expecting, but 4K Netflix content is superb. The voice control is a bit of a novelty that soon wore off though - hardly use that now.

MichaelChapman

Wow are you please with it ? If I can sell the speakers for £50 I’m at the same price as you

malcolmhughes

Yes I paid £1399 with 5 year guarantee on BF week

sh3z

To be fair, that’s still a decent deal as any right now; effectively £1399 if you shift the speaker for £100. Making it equal to the lowest it went over Black Friday (I believe).

I got a full sized 5.1 monitor audio silver kit with Denon x3400 AV amp. Speakers will keep their value more than my C8 TV will!

robo989

Hardly anyone bothered with a proper av setup anymore.

anewman

I wouldn't have thought anyone buying this TV would be using a soundbar. They'd most likely have a decent home cinema setup.

robo989

Yes we'll both c8 and b8 do technically but stand on the c8 is solid all way along so there is no way to post a soundbar audio or power cable through it.

Not just that. The C8 supports considerably more codecs than the 802. So if you play rips of your films then the C8 is the one to get. I have lots of films stored on my network in NAS drives; the C8 plays them all no issues. It's also worth noting the LG has a better OS.

MCYounes

Thanks!

PriceBeaten

Comes down to if you want Dolby Vision which LG has but pretty sure the 802 has been cheaper than this at times at least around black friday for 1300, they were about the same when I got the C8 and I love the stand myself so that helped me pick <3 Heres a great video on the topic, these are the model up only different is these have forward facing speakers so its pretty much 802 vs C8 minus any audio opinions

siraj13

Question for those who have bought this TV (or any large TV for that matter): Can anyone recommend a fixed bracket? I've been looking online and a lot of these look like they have a slight downwards tilt to the TV once in place. I'm fitting my TV quite low so I want it completely straight when looking head on with no unintentional tilt.

MCYounes

This one or the 802 Panasonic??

Cool, enjoy your new t.v.

Fergal1

I messaged them back and they reviewed it and matched it second time around. However I have a Q9FN as I really can’t do with babysitting my TV after reading lots of burnnin issues in avforums and the likes.

BoomtownRat73

That was a Black Friday price match. It's gone up since then in both JL and District. Suggest you track the price of the product over xmas/Jan sales across all shops that fulfil JL's criteria and then get the price matches in quick every time you see a drop elsewhere. JL Price Matches are then valid for 28 days. I got mine via price match after Black Friday for £2099, although a few people who were quick enough got it for a couple of quid under £2k.

Fergal1

How did you go about the price match, I filled in the online form and got an email stating that it didn’t meet all the price match requirements even though it seems to and people ha e successfully had it matched.

Fergal1

John Lewis will not price match this for me. Anyone know why?

Yeah, not that anyone seems to care mind you.

paul29

Apologies, did not realise this was 4G. Will amend post.

taishifox

btw, just checked Argos and I see no Samsung Galaxy A's there for £235 let alone with headphones and especially not with 4G, cheapest I found with LTE (4G) is £339 which is what we're comparing here. Do me a favor and provide a link?

taishifox

Also, if we want to go with bigger numbers; https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Bluetooth-Wireless-Headphones-Microphone/dp/B071RVQR21 3.5 star rating, still not that good imho, probably not even worth the price they claim it to be. btw, only 9 people reviewed it on Amazon UK and it.s £52 on there so Samsung already rip people off with the price since they claim it's worth £74 and they do sell it at that price. Like I said, marketing ploy for the gullible.

taishifox

https://www.samsung.com/uk/mobile-accessories/u-flex-headphones-eo-bg950/EO-BG950CBEGWW/ 2.8 star rating and only 6 reviews, shame there's not more of them but proves no one really buys them and those who have aren't happy, I rest my case.

i_need_bargains

The Sony is Full Array Local Dimming, the Q7 is edge lit and has poor local dimming, motion on the Sony is class leading and the up-scaling (X1 Extreme processor) is better too. Probably the only thing that the Q7 wins on is colour reproduction and a better SMART TV interface. That's not to say the Q7 is not a good TV it is but as I said the step up Q8 is a better comparison.

npnw1

Why would you say the Sony is a better screen then ?.

i_need_bargains

The Sony 75XF9005 a far better TV competing with the QLED Q8 can be had for £2499 inc. a 5/6 year warranty. Why would you want this?

I mean Apple do fairly cheap iPads now at only around £100 more than this. You'd get a much better experience than buying this but if you HAVE to save that £100 then I guess this isn't too bad.

Bazza71

Yes, agree it's a 2 year old model, but even an iPad of that age is substantially more. We have 3 iPads in our house and the S2 is much nicer. Oh well, as I said, if I can help one person, I'm a happy man.😁

M0nk3h

It's probably because this is technically a used model, not a new one. The other factor is age. You're talking £229 for a 2 to 4 year old tablet (I believe they silently updated the hd/ware in '16) which is still somewhat steep and will likely stop receiving updates. In fact I don't even think it got Oreo. Yes, Custom ROMs are a thing but to the average joe, they won't want to flash with no technical knowledge. I loved my Tab 3 8.0 until I dropped it down the stairs. You can buy Apple's cheapest iPad and it'd still be newer and much better.

Bazza71

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.xda-developers.com/lineageos-15-android-oreo-officially-announced/amp/

Bazza71

It's the updated variant, although the spec says exynos 1.8, when it is actually a Snapdragon. Mine came with 7.0 installed.
