Oh, probably should have mentioned that they will match Sale prices with this now too!

They'll also refund you If their prices drop. Ordered a TV on Sat. for £765 and yesterday it went down to £739. Quick phonecall and I've got a refund on its way.

This has been there for ages now.

So they should BEAT the price, not match it. Tho probably 20p under.

Any idea how they beat it? I take it that its done via telephone. So you lose on chance of codes, quidco etc?

I just looked at their xbox 360 games, and they all seem over priced?

Does this include eBay?

Somehow I very much doubt it.

can we get this to price match with the net, then take this price as price match it at john lewis and get the warranty as well

You're sure it was Dixons you phoned? Last time I rang them I was kept on hold for 29 minutes:x

Oh and by the way the following is an order I placed and had delivered 10 days later. This is what it shows when I log in, i've had no reciept or anything....

D001xxxxxx 06/05/07 10:11:11 PM Order in progress 07/05/07 12:26:05 PM … D001xxxxxx 06/05/07 10:11:11 PM Order in progress 07/05/07 12:26:05 PM £169.95

Breweries and P-ups spring to mind whenever DSG is mentioned.

great policy as i've always considered dixons overpriced, hot!
any way you look at this a policy likes this means dixons works out the cheapest

dixons don't have any shops now, do they?

if it includes sale items, does it also include GC deals then? :O

Dixons are part of Currys does this include them too?

They will make a lot of money off the phone calls :whistling:

You beat me to it :-)

does this apply to "dixons tax free", as you can order everything dixon offers via "dixons tax free" at airports etc.?

No.

This is Dixons.co.uk only.

Well it seems like Dixons has made a clever move which makes this hard to use (at least to claim the price of the cheapest web-shops).. the price has to include delivery.. :x

I wonder if Ebuyer's super saver deliver counts :whistling:

Anyone know if they will price match some of the great deals on here through using voucher codes?

Also I know dixons is online only but if you got dixons to pricematch something, you might be able to get john lewis to price match Dixons/DSG group..

But I assume that still then meant their delivery included price will be less...

this is a load of crap. dixons/currys stock exactly the same items availavle with competitors but re brand their products.

for example, a tv with model he123 available at high st - dixons/currys will stock the same item but will add an extra letter at the end of the model no. so they will sell the tv with model he123x at an higher pprice.

therefore u cannot price match as thereotically they r different models yet the are identical

Currys will only price match and with provisos. For reserve and collect items, they will only price match Argos, Comet, PCWorld & Woolworths. Other than that they will price match (including delivery) the following stores:-

247 Electrical
Amazon
Argos
B&Q
Cameras2U
Comet
Co-Op Electrical Shop
Dabs
Duck
eBuyer
Empire Direct
Jessops
John Lewis
Laskys
LX Direct
Miller Bros
QED-uk
Sainsburys
Shopping4cameras
Tecno
Tesco
Woolworths

They only used to Price Match against certain websites but now they seem to price match any online retailer!

Very good!

Voted cold. I strongly disagree with Price match policies which do nothing more than match a competitor. In the case of JL at least you get a 5 year warranty.

Why should you have to phone Dixons provide proof go through the hassle only to get the same price as another merchant? You know who deserves your custom....the merchant who priced the item cheap to begin with - not the merchant who tried to scam you out of your money until you called them on it.

Here's a message to Dixons - if you truely believe you have the best prices on the net put your money where your mouth is and pay out a % of the difference. That's the only real price match promise otherwise it's waste of time - support the merchants who price strongly to start with.

A good point well made. For this reason I've voted cold too.

using the admins comments as inspiration I have emailed Dixons with the points raised, and asked if they could be passed on to the powers that be.

Should be fun.....we'll see what their responce is :-D

I'll let you know...

Yep, they've been doing that little trick for years and they're not the only ones.

Was about to post a point but I see admin beat me to it - how is this a hot deal? Just buy from the retailer who's cheapest anyway and save yourself the hasstle of phoning and convincing Dixons.
Voted cold!

How do they decide whether a rival online retailer is legitimate?

I could have a site knocked up and online in a couple of hours... LG LCD anyone? :whistling:

I was considering using this price match as I am about to buy a 37" TV but I am putting money on the fact that they wont match the price on the fact the the model number is slightly different even though the TV is the same. Dixons have always had higher prices as they know there is always going to be Joe bloggs who doesnt shop around and will buy at full RRP.

The only reason that I would go with Dixons in a price match is if I could return a defective item to a dixons shop and get given a replacement there and then. This would do away with the hassle of return posting the goods or having to wait in all day for a courier to pick the item up.

I know that chain stores let you take items back to different branches but does anybody know if an internet bought return to a store is possible? This is made even more difficult by the Dixons shops being rebranded as Currys.Digital but both fall under the DSG name.

Thats what I was hinting at about John Lewis, they would be more likely to match Dixons that say Pixmania. I wouldnt by an LCD/Plasma without a 5 year guarantee personally.

Fair point, but what I do is get them to price match and then pay for it with my egg card. Voila 5% discount.

Will they match Amazon in store?

I think i mis-phrased the thread title, Dixons will beat any price. Also, if you look at TVs (not really been on Dixons for anything else lately) they are already one of the cheapest shops around. On top of that they give out discount codes and have cash back via Quidco (4%) and Egg (5%)

Not everyone is prepared to take a risk buying from an unknown retailer, this sort of policy takes the best price, beats it and adds the peace of mind you get from buying off a big name retailer

I don't think they will price match Amazon in store. They ask you to call Currys sales team on 0870 609 7493 and give them your name & postcode, the name, price and product code (Currys) of the item you are asking them to price match and tell them you have seen it cheaper on the Amazon website. Once they have verified the price, they will match it and take the order over the phone.

What will they beat any price by? I missed that.

If you do a Dixons pricematch you will lose out on Quidco/Egg/codes as you have to do it over the phone.

Edit: Your first line says

I see in the bit you quoted it says beat but I don't see anything in their spiel that talks about that.

The short of it is NO JL won't match a Dixons pricematch as it's not a published verifiable price available to all, its a personal offer from Dixons.

Yet again, peace of mind and DSG don't go hand in hand in my mind. DSG are possibly one of the worst of the faceless corporations you could ever hope to deal with. If they offer a good online price i'll buy, but as for pricematching they can shove it up their **** as far as i'm concerned. That sort of thing just proves they are overcharging in the first place. Personally i'd rather buy from Lidl/Aldi:giggle:
