DIY ‘Big Mac’ for only £1.59 @ McDonalds

A Big Mac by itself is £3.19, but you can save £1.60 by creating one yourself.

How?

First, order a £1.49 Double Cheeseburger on the new in store screens and then perform the following free customisations on screen...

Add shredded lettuce
Add onions
Add pickles
Add mustard
Add mayonnaise

The add-ons are free and while it wont taste or look exactly like the iconic Big Mac, its a pretty neat trick for 149 pennies. Less than a limp supermarket sarnie.

This should also serve as a reminder that, with the new screens, you can easily customise any order with certain items, allowing you to add or remove pickles, for example. This also ensures that your order is cooked fresh!

You can then use the receipt to get yourself a real big mac and fries for only £1.99 by completing the "mcfoodforthough" survey

Found on the money saving website and thought I would share on here

Ripped off from Martin Lewis website I believe.

As stated in post, op is not claiming he/she thought it all up, just passing on information

There is nothing original on the Martin Lewis website.

He even ripped off his name from the veteran newsreader.
McDonalds is pig swill for the masses.

Isn't the burgers wider on a big Mac?

This isn't really a big mac. Even the op said "it wont taste or look exactly like the iconic Big Mac"
I dunno it seems like a dumb deal.

No weird biases, it's trash and should be talked about as such

People like you just want good news about their bad habits

Blocking you now as this is painfully boring

Nope, both use 1:10 patties (ie 1/10 lb in pre-cooked weight).

They also take 42-44 seconds to cook under the clamshell, compared to 118 seconds for the 1:4 patties.

I've done it, and they did, but it looked as if they'd actually thrown the sauce at the bun it was everywhere
"Add shredded lettuce

a double cheese burger already has onions/pickles/mustard (and tommy K)
adding lettice and Mayo is actually only a slice of tomato away from making a fake Burger King double Jr Whopper with cheese,
not a Bigmac!

to make a DIY Bigmac you need to remove mustard/tommy K, and 1 slice of cheese, then add lettice and bigmac sauce

Sorry but the Big Mac special sauce is missing and certainly doesn't equation to mayo and mustard. It's a glorified double cheeseburger with free grass.

That's quite the imagination. You need to stop watching Eminem's music videos.

It's all in the delivery of the request - if you're not a d*** then you'll not have any repercussions.

The tight schedule they are on and number of staff (at peak periods) wouldn't allow for such ongoing activities. Plus it was my ex's order...so....
great food hack and price too. heat added.
can this method be used to create the sea land and air burger too?
Just ask for the proper big mac sauce at the till. Easily done. We do this to try re-create a in-n-out burger

Shame you didn't help the community out like the OP has tried to do, maybe you could increase your impressive stat of 1 deal in 11 years.
Or do what I do for a proper burger on the cheap. Purchase 2 double cheese burgers, remove 1 bun base and stack them together and you have yourself a McQuad.... Far better than any of the posh burgers on offer and less money!

A Mig Bac if this was ali express.
Make your own Big Mac. The sauce recipe is on Youtube, actually published by McDonalds. It's spot on. Naturally homemade tastes way better.

But the double cheeseburder already has pickles, onions and mustard?

I believe the only difference is the mayo and lettuce.
