Compact & portable
Weighing in at just under 250 g, the DJI Mavic Mini Drone is almost as light as the average smartphone. It's small enough to pop in your bag and take with you anywhere.

And better still, the lightweight design places it in the lowest and safest weight class of drones, so it's exempt from certain regulations in the UK and many other countries.

Easy to use
The DJI Fly app makes flying and recording video simple. The Flight Tutorial will take you through it step-by-step to get you up and away safely.

With precision hovering, GPS flight paths, and up to 30 minutes of flight time, you can fly with confidence.

Awesome videos
Skip the editing suite – the app has a variety of templates so you can create awesome videos in just a few taps.

For those cinematic shots, the Mavic Mini has a few tricks up its sleeve. QuickShot modes, including Circle, Helix, and Rocket make it super easy to create professional-looking videos.

Please note: when flying a drone in the UK you must follow The Drone Code as set out by The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). For more information visit dronesafe.uk. Do not fly your drone within 1 km of an airport or airfield.

Excellent device, literally just taken mine out for its maiden voyage

Mavic mini

Terrible video with no purpose, flying around my town, neighbour stopped for a chat whilst I was about to pan around the church, but it shows just how stable the GPS is, and it was in slight wind, it's like the camera was in a fixed position rather than a flying drone.

Certainly have confidence in its ability

My only gripe is no headless mode (or course lock DJI like to call it)

I was about to buy the other day, remembered I had a code for very and got the fly more model for the same price as the base unit, really chuffed.

Do these have any mechanical stabilisation on them?
It has a 3 axis gimbal for the camera.
Great piece of kit and good price!
Is it worth another £100 for the fly more combo?

Definitely, case, props and two extra batteries make it well worth it
Looking forward to getting one of these if the price for the fly more combo comes down. Really have no purpose for owning one, just like the thought of flying it!

Look for a code from very, knocked 91 quid off with a 20% voucher. Paid in 12 months interest free credit and got the fly more for same price as base model.

Also, pay 35, and for a year you're covered from piloting like a twit and destroying it. Providing you can recover the drone, you can send it to them for free and get a replacement for £39 quid, do it again and they'll replace again for a cost of £45. Can't grumble at that price
Does not require the new CAA Drone licence, as it’s under 250g at 249g.

This will change next year when it will need to be registered the same as it has a camera
The Fly More combo is well worth the extra. It's currently in stock at Argos and Currys online. I just bought one from Currys with next day delivery. I'll be buying DJI Care Refresh for £35 once it comes.

I'm really impressed by the image quality of the Mini. One thing is that the Mini does tend to overexpose things a bit but you can easily knock down the EV a bit. For smooth panning try the Cinemode.

Do check the drone code and be aware that "Housing estates would generally be regarded as built up areas". Quote from CAA:

Good deal 💪

Is it worth another £100 for the fly more combo?

Yes, I bought the fly more combo recently. 1 battery on it's own is £45. The extra spent on the combo gets you 2 extra batteries, the battery charger / holder giving the ability to recharge all 3 batteries (it charges the lowest charged battery first, but stick all three in on the evenings and by morning they are all charged) otherwise you;d charge one in the drone, swap it out, charge it, swap it. It also doubles as a power bank if needed.

Get the extra propellers too.

The only "downside" with the combo is the propeller guard in that without the guard the drone is 249g. With the guard, it's 250g+. I imagine there will the the arguement of well, it'll be over 250g but whats the chances of...I'll not debate it.

Nice video. Brave flying for a first flight. I would never take my Spark that far (embarrassed). Hope to try my mini this week sometime.
Mini, Pro 4K or Air? Have a £650 budget so can afford a second hand Pro or Air.
I've got the air and its solid. If you aren't bothered about registering a drone (which you'll have to do next year with this anyway) then I'd go for the air personally since you've got the budget for it. I actually payed 650 for mine and it was only a few months old and had 2 extra batteries, the quad charger and a bag to fit everything in so it was basically a fly more combo. If you are able to get a similar deal with extra batteries I would go for the air. If you can't get something with extra batteries, I would go for the mini fly more just because buying batteries for the air would add another £100+ to your cost. I imagine with the release of this front you should be able to find some pretty good deals though. My only issue with my Mavic is not finding enough time to fly it, so maybe think about that aswell when deciding how much you want to spend on a drone. If I was going to buy my first drone now I would probably have gone for the mini just because of the lower price, but if you have the extra cash to play with the air is still a pretty good upgrade over the mini. Better camera, more powerful and extra obstacle avoidance sensors.

They've all got good points and bad points. What's important for you? I was put off the Air by it's noise and the low run time but that might not matter to you. There's loads of reviews on YouTube so check some out and work out what's right for you.

PS: Another option is the Parrot Anafi

I’ve spent days watching comparison vids and reading reviews- I’m a photographer so camera is key but again, each of the drones have pros and cons in that dept. It’s a difficult choice!

I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago (apart from the budget) I was all set to get the mini, but then ended up getting the Air flymore combo from Amazon Warehouse during the black friday sale for less than the mini flymore combo.

For me the Camera quality, being able to change exposure settings and the collision avoidance swung it for the Air.

The only thing I think that is better on the Mini is the battery life. But realistically I don't think you'll be flying it for that long per flight.
