DJI is the Apple of the filming/drone world and is very hard to find discount so this is a steal if you're looking for a phone gimbal!

If they are the apple of the drone world then doesnt that make them a well marketed brand selling overpriced - old tech?

I have this, with the Dji app, excellent gimbal. Heat added.
Don't you mean... DJI is the Samsung of the filming/drone world?

I was thinking of getting the pocket Osmo - mostly to avoid the faff of using the phone (plus my phone is an IPhone 8 so not a super picture taker).

Would I be better off saving the cash and getting this?

Think it's just the convenience of the pocket which I fell for. But it also depends on the quality of your phone. In terms of stabilisation I think this would be just as good as the osmo pocket
Jessops or amazon?
Also this or combo with tripod for 20 quids extra?
Just bought the combo off amazon. The tripod will come in very handy for active track static camera shots and time lapses plus you have the protective case too.
Really was not impressed by my mobile 2 is this a massive improvement?

Only because I'd always have my phone with me and not always the osmo pocket. Don't get me wrong the pocket is a great bit of kit
the downside to all folding gimbals is they can't keep the phone vertically level at high or low angles (when phone is in landscape orientation), anything above 45 degrees and the gimbal will tilt. For this reason it's best for vlogers rather then creative film making.

Its more portable, but can't be used at high or low angles, the mobile 2 can.
Not bad
I don't get it. What does it do that my hand cannot?

Maybe because it was posted a while go!
Shame no one commented on the issue these have horizontal levelling. May try and send it back as I purchased from amazon. An issue highlighted on a few forms with no fix and dj not seeming willing to do anything about it.
It's a shame DJI don't support the most powerful video recording software (Filmic Pro). Filmic expressed keen interest in supporting this gimbal since last year but DJI never sorted their API out. So in short, if you currently intend to make cinematic videos, don't get this gimbal.
Which portable tripods work well with this gimbal? Anyone tried the FotoPro Ufo? (it has flexible legs a bit like the Gorrilapod but looks better). Does a ball mount add any benefit when used with a gimbal?
