Mad how much these costs

Little more than a TV output cable

But I haven’t voted either way as not sure on market price atm
I bought a third party dock from ebay for about £15 & a Microsoft branded USB c power supply for about £6 for my kids bedroom & it works perfect.

I wouldn’t trust a chinese Knock Off with the Switch Console USB Type C Connector at the bottom of the Console Screen.

could you give a link to the power adapter? I thought it had to be a 15v one which I found hard to find.

I've got a couple and being honest I'd prefer if the grip was tighter to the screen with less wobble on the connector.
Bought an official one from Game for this price last month.
this is the retail price so i guess the deal is a stock alert, but the store isn't one that I see regularly so im not sure how good it is, I know the were a play.com many years ago but assuming this is unaffiliated as it shut down.

as for the product itself; as a switch owner i think this is really over priced for a stand, screen adaptor and charging dock. I feel like there is no chance in heck that were the console sold without this it would be anywhere near that much cheaper.
I bought this for the dock - amazon.co.uk/gp/…JX/ - works well and no wobble with the connector when docked
For power I got this - amazon.co.uk/gp/…W5/ - expensive, but I needed something to charge my laptop and other USB devices while travelling so for me the fact that it works for the Switch is an added bonus. Otherwise I would have bought this - amazon.co.uk/dp/…5Z/

YMMV

Agree with Rob - Apple icon and making a comment about price about another retailer selling overpriced products is kettle calling pot black!

The only reason for the overpowered psu Nintendo supply is to ensure if you use all the USB ports to charge fully discharged accessories & have discharged joycons charging & play all at the same time that they'll all charge at full capacity with some to spare.

The Nintendo dock checks the psu & will only use that spec or not work.

The third party docks don't have such checks so anything over 2.6A is perfectly fine.

I got this dock:

rover.ebay.com/rov…043

And this power adapter:

Fair enough.

Although tbh there's no actual risk bar that of the usb C connector itself being physically made badly, which is very very unlikely as usb C is an industry standard & China makes practically all of them!

The switch itself limits power itself so the dock doesn't need to do anything but transfer power from the power supply (hence me buying a branded one) & mimic the chip inside the switch dock that tells the switch it's in docked mode.

That's it. If it's made badly, it just won't work, it can't damage the switch.

they aren't apple maybe like halfway there, their stuff does retail as much as any other stuff usually, their products do seem to decline in value a lot less though for some reason. apple on the other hand massively overprice their products compared to competitors and they dont decline in value they just go obsolete and then they make their models older than a year function slower in software updates... I just prefer to use iOS
Utter rip off! As others have said this does little more than handle TV output, something a £1 HDMI lead does just fine on every other console....

Yep. Both the third party dock & this charger will fit inside the Orzly travel case with the switch, which is why I choose that charger & dock, means you can just grab the one case & take it someone else's house to play.

You sure about that? Read the reviews of the Nyko portable dock I had my eye on last year before all the bad reviews put me off.
Too many people reporting it damaging their Switch for it not to be a genuine problem with the design/QC of the Nyko dock.

That's the USB C connector creating a short physically imo. Very poor design.

The USB C connector is on an angle & that stand behind it will lean further backwards as its removable, unlike the standard design of the newer third party ones, & it doesn't have a ridge or front lip to prevent it rocking back either.

The switch has standard overcharging protection, so it's extremely difficult to imagine any other way that kind of damage would happen, just look at the schematics of the chip these docks use & the pin outs.

Worth mentioning that buying the dock separately includes the wall adapter and a hdmi lead.

Makes £60 a little easier to swallow since the adapter from Nintendo is £25 on its own

But even with the overcharging protection, the Switches were still damaged by the Nyko docks (for whatever reason).
Just saying that 'If it's made badly, it just won't work, it can't damage the switch.' isn't neccessarily true.
