“Doctor Sleep” is the continuation of Danny Torrance’s story 40 years after the terrifying events of Stephen King’s The Shining. Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality. Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

Not a bad film. Not as good as the book. How much longer is the Directors cut ? Spotted it 30 mins. Purchased :-)

Just watched this film the other day. I like how the story followed on from the shining. Did enjoy it. Heat added.
Thanks heat added.
Heat added! 🔥
As far as I'm aware, this is the only way to get the director's cut in 4K Dolby vision/HDR
Very interesting film. The director's version is better but not by as much as some reviews say. Still if you have 3 hours to spare, it is the better version.

Heat
Superb compared to the Shining which was cra# fell asleep. Now the book .... Shining is something else.

Which is more than the 4K Disc release did

Shame they didn’t include the directors cut on the 4K release rather than just adding it onto the blu ray disc unless they are planning to bring out another version. Missed out on getting the directors cut version so just opted for the standard 4K 2 disc release

This comment confused the living hell out of me lool. But the directors cut is on the 4K Disc release but it ISNT on a 4K disc. Just the theatrical release is on the 4k disc and the directors cut is on a blu ray disc.
Has this deal already expired? It is showing as 13.99 for me.

Yeah if I remember rightly they stayed quite quiet about that's what they were doing. They're not really doing themselves many favours in getting people to adopt 4K.

Agreed. Especially with that £24.99 price point, I think it's way overpriced when you can get 4k digitals for £13.99. if they were £19.99 it wouldn't be too bad but imagine two 4k discs are £50. That's ridiculous

It's a crazy amount, I was lucky enough to grab the bundle Warner Brothers did with The Shining and Doctor Sleep for £30. I don't think they'd said that the directors cut was BR only at that point. Which is very disappointing, as it's a slap in the face to cinephiles who obviously want the highest quality and then you get short changed. It's annoying enough that you have to swap discs over to watch special features as they throw them on a separate BR.

First world problems I know, you just can't help but feel that they're penny pinching.

Oh no, I absolutely agree. I tend to not watch the special features because of that same reason. Of course you could call me lazy but small things like that could easily turn someone away. Which is the reason why the world is becoming so digital now, especially for games also! The shining bundle was a top deal tbh

That was a really good deal, esp as The Shining is really expensive on its own; Plus you got a mini poster which got inspected and put back in its envelope. The golden age of movie extras seem to be long behind us now and just seem to be 3-5 min puff pieces. Only seems to be companies like Criterion and Arrow keeping the good stuff alive. The T2 Ultimate Edition for me is still the gold standard for how to do a release.
Back to £7.99 for those of you who missed out.

Unexpired it. Thank you for that 👌🏾
Awesome! I managed to grab it for £7.99. I can't wait to watch it this weekend
How is this movie? Is it worth a watch? Keeping in mind that I really like The Shining.

If you liked the shining you'll love doctor sleep. I never really grew up with the shining or read the books so I prefer doctor sleep.

Could you elaborate? Are you basically getting both cuts for £7.99?

Yeah, once you purchase doctor sleep. On the menu it ask if you wanna watch theatrical or directors cut and both are in 4k HDR
Am I right in thinking that I'd have to have an apple device to watch the Director's Cut? I wouldn't be able to watch it through the Apple tv app on a fire stick?

Not really, if you have a computer or laptop that's either windows or apple, download iTunes and you'll be able to watch the directors cut there 😁 all you need is a device that uses the menu feature.

whoah. Hang on. I was just literally about to buy but saw your comment. So if I buy this I won’t be able to watch the 4K directors cut on my tv via amazon fire stick?

Nope, unfortunately not as you have to have a device that allows the movies menu. I have a Samsung TV and had Apple TV app on there and there was no way of accessing the menu to select directors cut
Whaaaaaaaat. That’s seems crazy I’m this modern technology world.

It’s a long old film to watch on the iPad! I suppose my old laptop won’t being to play in 4K either :/
I have just read as well that loads of people have been caught out like this as Apple have had exclusive directors cut films but people can’t watch them through the app. Really annoying.

Yh it's silly. Either Apple TV box or computers. Hopefully soon they'll update the app some how
This is madness. How can I not be able to access the movies menu on the actual Apple App on my TV?

I was about to buy as well (hence my earlier question), but holding off if this is the case.

Right? I was driven to buy an apple TV box (with no regrets lol)
Google Play Movies now has the Director's Cut available to buy in 4k, but it's £12.99 for just the one version!
