As Doctor Who hasn't and won't be shot in HD it will be unlikely to appear in that format any time soon.

Correct, find it very strange that they shot Torchwood in HD but not Dr Who. Very frustrating as Torchwood looks amazing on BBC HD, they definitely missed a trick not getting Dr Who on it as well.

Good deal voted hot.

I do remember Julie Gardner saying that it was to do with the number of SFX needed to make Doctor who compared with Torchwood. It certainly is a budget thing it has been considered but it seems like the money to make doctor who isnt suffient to shoot it in HD.

how can anyone vote cold for this its a great deal.

nice spot

with the global profit that this production makes as a franchise etc... how can they say they can't afford it? to be honest i would rather not get it at all if its never gonna be on high def. they charge too much for a series that is only made up of a dozen episodes, and is repeated constantly on g.o.l.d. or whatever the channel is called now. the bbc gets enough money out of us as it is, for a US series by example you pay less but get twice the amount of episodes for your money.:?

But remember the BBC is more accoutable for the money it gets from the licence fee they cannot simply blow the budget for episodes. You may get 22/24 episodes from a american series but there are very few good US imports out there.

I beg to differ, depends what you like. For me, Terminator, Heroes, Dexter, 30Rock and sometimes lost are all very good. and if thats the case then why release Torchwood high def from the start? especially as its got very simular production and location (cardiff) and the effects would be high for that series too as well as pay for the larger ensemble cast,

All I'm saying is that it just doesn't make sense when the bbc use high def for all their other big programmes and alot of the smaller ones, but then the one thing they have which to be frank is the biggest... they don't bother. plus they would make more money on the sale of blu-ray. I bet you in the next couple of years, doctor who will be on blu-ray. after david tennant has left. and then the fans of the show will then fork out more again on the same product but in high def.
