Thx OP have you used this? I use my Bluetooth headphones a lot with my laptop.

Can you (or any other HUKDr) plz tell me how in your experience it compares to the free "windows sonic" option?

Never tried this Dolby tech. Anyone used it?

Does it give Dolby digital 5.1 soundtrack ( if encoded in the MP4 file)to headphone surround or something like that?
I had a phone with Dolby Atmos inbuilt. Superior sound quality for sure. I always keep going back to that phone if I really want to enjoy the sound.
Is this a one off purchase and not a yearly subscription? Presumable i can use this on both xbox and pc at the same time?

One off purchase.
The main selling point of Atmos is the overhead/height element surround sound, so I can’t imagine it’s going to sound too great with some headphones
Will it give me surround sound type effect on my video files with ac3? Or possiblly DTS?
Or games with 5.1, like most normal games.

I was almost sure that you need dedicated hardware / physical components to have Dolby Atmos or any other type of Dolby. Can't believe that is just software.
It dors a pseudo surround effect on headphones. There was a trial vs windows sonic and I cannot honestly remember how better it was versus sonic but I know my son's tablet (Lenovo) has dolby and music and Netflix sound awesome.

I have a cheap Chinese headset with pseudo surround via a Taiwan chipset and wonder how much better the official dolby version would be!

Have tried to get it from Indonesia etc for cheaper but seems it is a standard us dollar price.
If I have a video file with ac3, any software that can give me surround type effects in headphone?

Razer Surround works as virtual 7.1 with headphones. Basic version is free, Pro is £11.99 or usually comes free with Razer headphones.

Worth a try as it's free.

Thanks.. I'll look into it!
Im using this on xbox. Blown away by how wide the soundstage is via stereo headphones.

If you install the dolby atmos app, and run it, there are some test vids. (Watch the leaf vid) Toggling dolby/sonic/stereo was insane.

Its not flawless. It seems to have a problem panning the mids in background music without stuttering on my current setup. Yet to test with wireless headphones.

There is a 30 day free sample too so you could try before you buy.

Worth noting: your mp3s arent going to suddenly have wild seperation - but anything 5.1-7.1 will be simulated. Most things are not recorded in atmos. It isnt an industry standard.(yet)

Its the audio illusion of height thats has surprised me watching a couple of netflix - there is a real sense of distance and direction that ive not experienced with these headphones before,

Although its impossible to compare with a full atmos setup.

The real noticeable difference is £9.96

Edit: After comparing Dolby/Sonic/None in a game that supports spatial sound (Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition), I have to say I prefer Dolby. Windows Sonic amplified the volume but the simulated 3D space sounds really off, e.g. its hard to describe but it felt like the sounds were coming above me instead of around me. It didn't sound genuine and I would say having none sounded better than Windows Sonic, at least for this game.

The truth is its down to personal preference, use the free trial (it doesn't start a subscription), and compare the 2 yourself with games/movies that supports spatial sound and make sure to turn spatial sound on in the games that supports it otherwise you won't experience it. £9.96 is the cheapest this has ever been, last cheapest price was 20%.

Edit 2: I have a pair of Sony WH1000XM3 and an ASUS 7.1 gaming headset, I used the gaming headset to test this.

Hi. In your comparison you mentioned Dolby Sonic None. But what about the software asus provides? Eg my sades 902 headset has some c media software and a little chip which sounds good on Netflix (remember watching Narcos and loved how the background noise soinded far away from the dialogue).

I guess I should also try razer too. I reckon the dolby one will be really good but I always like things for free if possible due to the way I was brought up! (My sades headset was 9 quid from amazon warehouse!)
Hi does this only work with headphones or would it make a difference to sound it off my creative 7.1 speaker system connected to my pc too?
Microsoft are so tight why can't they just give us 50% off for this

If using on pc or xbox, do you have an app to toggle it in and off, or is it constantly on whether you're playing a game, watching Netflix, YouTube etc. Tia.
