The website doesn't answer my question (hence why I asked).

Is it 2 x steaks (190g total) or 2 x steaks (380g) as the wording is a little confusing

I have bought from this company many times - the cuts of meat are amazing quality and never had cause to complain. I am very surprised at this price and going to order 2 or 3 of these and put them in the freezer. The way they arrive is also well thought out and they come in a chilled polystyrene box

I would presume EACH as it states individually packed but there is a helpline number 01467 629666

I have to agree the packaging was Outstanding, made me feel really Important! lol

Excellent quality meat & this is a good offer.
Just be prepared to be spammed to within an inch of your life for all eternity though

Gonna try it, ordered

What a rip off.

This is frozen meat that has been lying around for ages.
By all means, I would pay this kind of money for fresh, good quality meat, but dont get sucked into this B.S.

Thank you for posting, I was thinking of having a special steak supper soon and Donald Russell meat is always top quality.
My friend has offered to pay for thee steaks if I buy the wine, so an even better deal for me

You can request the meat to be chilled if you phone them.
As for the freezing, it's flash-frozen which is the best way to freeze meat (much better than home freezing) so it can stay in your freezer until you want to use it (defrost in the fridge to keep the meat succulent).
The meat is very fresh when it's frozen, I'd rather a fresh frozen steak than an unfrozen one which has been hanging about in a shop for a few days.
I highly recommend Donald Russell, their steak mince is the most delicious I have ever tried (from both the supermarket and my local butchers).

You couldn't get all that meat from Asda for that price, just because its been frozen doesn't mean it isn't good quality!

'Can frozen meat be high quality?
Yes - especially at Donald Russell. Once your meat has reached the perfect point of maturation, we cut, vacuum pack and professionally shock-freeze it to lock in the flavour, freshness and quality. The extremely low temperature preserves the meat naturally, at its best, so that when you defrost and cook your product, the quality is as high if not higher than the majority of fresh meat.'

190g? What is this? A steak for ants?

Hmmm....they would say that. They have a product to sell. But 'the majority of fresh meat' does not cost as much as this frozen meat does. Is this thread all it seems? Do you work for them by any chance?

Why would anyone ordered raw meat? Like you are gonna eat it raw?
Wonder if it has instructions what to do with it and who to call to prepare it.

I've eaten meat from Donald Russell and it was POOR QUALITY.

Don't believe their advertising. It's frozen poor quality meat, certainly not worth the 'usual' price and IMO not worth this 'deal' price either.

Tasteless, textureless rubbish, worse than supermarket cuts

Going to try it, thanks ordered

Website is very clear to be fair to the sarky response.
Individually packed, pack weighs 190g

Any more reviews...?
Am thinking to try one

So you get 1.15kg of steak, and 550g of burgers/sausage for £29?

Found a better deal with 12 mini burgers which saves you even more!
Thanks nightshadeUK!

This deal has been on going for awhile now. I purchased one a couple months back. Just a note the medallions and mini burgers are really really small. I have been a fan of Donald Russell steaks and purchased their ribeye and sirloin for years BUT I recently found that a thick cut steak from Costco or similar places taste better. The stuff you buy at Donald Russell are so expensive and thin in comparison, after I finish eating the remaining stuff, I will just buy from elsewhere instead.

Firstly, if I wanted a decent bit of meat, I wouldnt go to a supermarket for it and secondly, if did go to Asda for it, I could get three times as much meat !

Where else sells steak for almost £30 per kg ?

Dont get suckered in !

Tempted. Great quality steaks from DR 190g is on the small side, good for a steak sandwich perhaps?

Is it up to VistaPrint standards?

Well I'm a keen amateur chef, and spent 20 years with an unlimited expense account eating at virtually every Michelin starred restaurant in the UK and many more top class restaurants including the specialist steak places in London like Gaucho, Hawksmoor etc.

I've had meat from DR before, in fact the lamb was superlative (but not as good as Salt Marsh Lamb from Gower Peninsula).

But the truth of the matter IMO is that with steak the outcome depends on the cooking method and skill as much as anything. And ASDA, which I think sucks big time for fruit and veg (on the whole) actually sells decently quality beef. Better than Tesco and JS in my experience. Don't know why, but it's consistently better than most. And of course it's cheap.

Frozen steak, no thanks.
dont know if its just me, frozen beef tends to release a lot of funny smelling liquid. not sure if its the artifcate from these quick freeze method.

If i want to cook it medium rare, some of these liquid/smell is still in the center of the meat.
I have yet to have a frozen steak tasting better than its fresh counter part.
