Good price with free delivery for these character themed PDP wired controllers. They are similar to the popular Gamecube controllers.

*** IMPORTANT UPDATE 8th Jan ****
Amazon.Fr are selling those for 13.00 EUROS EACH + DELIVERY. To buy both controllers is 31.93 EUROS inc. shipping - this works out at GBP £24.63 for both controllers delivered - BARGAIN!!! amazon.fr/gp/…c=1

So in summary, if you want 2 of any controller or 1 of each, can save a few quid more by buying from Amazon.Fr (credit to RudeBullit for this find).

Not everyone is a fan of these controllers, as some question the quality compared to the more expensive Pro controllers. Some find them a bit flimsy and even breakable and dislike they have a cable. Probably not the best choice for Super Smash Bros.

I personally love them, find them very comfortable and I like the cheap prices They play great with Mario Kart 8 and platform games.

NOTE: The PDP controllers plug into your Wii U remote. So they are wireless of sorts. I quite like this myself as means no additional faffing around with battery charging etc. They are also very responsive.

What a contrast in point of views!
The themed pads and remotes really make it so much more fun, the kids love them! I have the Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi themed PDP pads and they really do match up well in appearance with the same character remotes which I also have.

Have the Wario/DK PDP pads also but am perhaps naively waiting for the same character remotes to be released. There is hope with the new Bowser (COOL) and Toad remotes Nintendo recently released.

Will probably buy this Toad PDP pad also which is just about to be released, as can at least be matched up to the new Toad remote.

is this a classic or pro controller?
Technically speaking they are Wired Gamecube controllers, as this is how they are branded and they replicate the popular Gamecube controllers. The Pro Controller is in all honesty a better quality product in terms of how it is manufactured, but is a fair bit more expensive. Is also totally wireless.

These controllers work just like classic controllers and will work with any games that support the "classic controller". It would be easier to list what games these PDP controllers don't work with, than what they do work with. Must work with 99% of Wii U games that they are compatible with?

HI, does it plug into the usb port on the Wii U?

Also random question - does anyone know if you can you use 2 of the large gamepads on one console?

1. No does not plug into USB port. Plugs into the Wii U remote (there is a hidden USB plug socket if u remove the bottom/back part of the button cover). Means you can sit anywhere in the room in comfort, I think plugging into the Wii U remote is a good thing.

2. Apparently you can only have 1 Wii U Screen Gamepad linked to any 1 console. Bit sucky huh?
Don't these plug into a wii remote rather than the wii u gamepad? If you don't own a wiimote these won't work.

Yeah, exactly. Does anyone have a Wii U and not have a Wii U remote though?
I brought a Mario and luigi one last week ( still waiting for delivery) and no one told me that u have to connect it with a wii remote?

I only got a wii u screen gamepad what the console came with, so having said that do I now need to buy two wii remotes to even play on these?

Ummm, whats the wii u remote? I have the large gamepad with the screen....

See amazon.co.uk/gp/…top for more info, unfortunately about £38 is a normal price, can get for a bit less with shopping around, but never cheap!

So if your just playing on your own with Wii U gamepad/screen on your own you won't need a Wii U Remote. If your wanting to play with friends and take advantage of the motion sensor control games, then you need remotes. Lots of games support 4-5 players.

If you don't know also many never use the Wii U gamepad/screen for playing games and view the games on their TV, and use separate controllers like the remotes and PDP controller in this deal.

Yes, if you want to use your new PDP controllers you will need to buy 2 remotes. If your planning to play your Wii U a lot, with multiplayer and a few games it would probably be a good investment. Lots of games take advantage of the Wii U motion sensor that the remotes facilitate. It ain't cheap I know, I splashed out about £150 for 4 of the character themed remotes, then some more for the PDP controllers. I wanted to enjoy the Wii U and all it has to offer though to its full potential and haven't regretted doing so.
Another controller in this range to consider in a separate deal is the Metal Mario PDP Controller@ Base for £15.99 inc free shipping. See deal hotukdeals.com/dea…748

Cheers buddy, I appreciate you filling me in on this, just seems really wrong with the way Nintendo go about making money.

Personally they have declined a lot in recent years and it seems they only have Mario games and spin off ones to fall back on now. Hence why all Mario games are still priced £40 in most retail outlets after a couple of years of been out.

Will have to shop about for this cheapest I found at the moment is 33.99

I couldn't agree more. Nintendo should really be including at least 1 remote (if not 2 remotes) with the Wii U Premium packs. I never had these problems with my Sega Master System or NES back in the day

Mind you, lucky we even get an adapter with the Wii U, when I bought my kids 3DS last year it didn't even come with an adapter. A bit like buying a car but needing to buy the wheels separately really.

IMHO you might as well buy the more collectible and fun character themed remotes. The Mario & Luigi red/green themed remotes will match the controllers nicely. Is same price range anyway.

My main issue with this is you still need the Wii Remotes for absolutely no reason, they could have easily stuck a bluetooth/wifi adapter in these controllers. Its annoying having them dangle off the end and be pretty much a useless bit of plastic also the battery life on them is horrible. As you all say Nintendo trying to scalp everyone as usual.

I am not surprised at the obligatory PS/XBOX fanboy comment. There is always one isn't there? Just can't help yourself can you? Just back too from your latest HUKD ban I see, the bets are on people, I give them a week...

Its a shame hori didnt get the contract to make all these controllers coz i think their gamecube style classic controllers are much higher build quality. I have the mario and pikachu controllers!!

I can't disagree. The HORI / Pro controllers are better quality build than the PDP ones. The PDP pads look lovely however and play fine. The cheaper price point of them also reflects the less quality. Is strange as the Hori Mario/Luigi controllers are very similar to the PDP style of the same characters. Might as well have let both produce the whole range, nothing wrong with giving consumers choice is there.

I do like that the PDP pads are wired to the remotes myself, I find it beneficial as not having to charge batteries frequently.

Not sure what you on about, I have never been banned (just joined the other day) and I dont own a xbox or PS. Pc all the way. I obviously pushed your buttons, this was not my intentions. I loved my wii but was very disappointed with Nintendo when they released the wii u, and for me they lost a hugh market share.

My sincere apologies, but its a reflection of how things are here. Happy to give you the benefit of the doubt and please accept my apologies. Welcome to HUKD, its a very good place to be if you can see past the various nonsense, hope you benefit from some great deals.

Yeah just replace the 2 x AA batteries. I use Energiser rechargeable batteries by the way, works out cheaper in the long run and you get chargers that charge them in less than 1hr these days.

Not sure if the Wii Remote works with these on Wii U games myself to be honest. I don't have a definite answer, maybe someone else on here knows for sure?

You can import them from Japan for about £29 delivered from nippon yasan. they mark the boxes up right so as not to incur tax. I've had dozens of items from them including wiimotes, amiibo, wii u pro controllers and ps4 controllers. saved a small fortune.

No its a Wii U controller for Wii U only.

Not really correct as these work as classic controllers so you can use these with compatible Wii games so not just 'Wii U only'. Plus you can also use them for playing gamecube games on a modded Wii or Wii U. However, on an unmodded standard Wii only 'normal' gamecube controllers that connect via the gamecube controller ports on the Wii can be used to play gamecube games (ie you can't use controllers which connect to the Wii remote to play gamecube games). Also just to be clear, all Wii U remotes are exactly the same as Wii remotes (aside from cosmetic differences) & both will work on either console.

Wiimotes aren't really necessary so if people really want one then buy 'em yourselves. Now, what Nintendo should have included with the Premium/Deluxe bundles are the High Capacity Battery for the GamePad but they don't seem to care about that either.

I'm glad Nintendo's through with the Wiimotes because it's just gimmicky controllers that aren't useful as traditional controllers due to the lack of 2x analogue sticks and no internal battery (like WUPC).

Better to just use the GameCube adapter with a real GCN controller than crappy PDP controllers (no offence, Noah).

This is a Wii Classic Controller reskinned as a GCN controller so to play GCN games on Wii you need a real GCN controller, but yeah, this is compatible too with Wii games (+ WU too).
