the doorstop ones are great.Paid over a tenner each for mine a few years back

Is it a really sharp sound? I'm having bother with my almost 3 year old wandering in the night and a baby gate is no match for him now. I wonder if this might alert me that he's trying to get into the kitchen for example. Its possible it would frighten him too much but on the other hand ... it might just stop the wandering haha.

yep its very loud lol.probably wake your neighbours too

Thought this deal would have at least been posted by 'Andy Wedge'

Wait so I could just wedge this under an office door and when someone opens it a loud alarm goes off instantly? Hahahaha that will be jokes at work! Need to get a bloke back for when he put an air horn under my gas lift chair X)

I'm confused as to how this works? You close a door then put a wedge underneath it that will sound an alarm if someone opens the door but how do intruders open a door that's wedged shut or am I being daft?

Door alarm looks OK if it works.
Can it take re-chargable batteries and how many.
Like Quickblood I can`t see how the door wedge works.

from what i understand from years of using a door wedge :P ; you wedge the door from the inside. as anyone breaking in would have to push the door open, it would push against the wedge setting off the alarm. only usefull for doors that open inwards i guess and also only when you are staying in the house. cant see how you would be able to set this up if youre outside the door on your way out lol.

Attach a string to the wedge, place the string under the door, step out and shut the door, pull the wedge close to the door but not too hard, otherwise you'll trigger it.
Easy X)

This will only work if your in the same room as the wedge or if you have the door ajar?

Not really. My gran used to have one she would set up at the backdoor before going to bed. Would give her a bit of extra peace of mind after someone broke in via the backdoor before.

You're probably better off with something like this (still very loud, so might scare him)

WIRELESS PIR MOTION SENSOR ALARM + 2 REMOTE CONTROLS £4.25 delivered

or this (more of a door bell sound and adjustable volume, plus you keep the 'bell' part next to yourself, so he probably wouldn't hear it, but will alert you)

1byone Safety Driveway Patrol Infrared And Wireless Home Security Alert Alarm £15.99

Would be useful when staying in a hotel - I normally put a chair by the door to ensure that I am woken by any nighttime intruder, but this wedge would wake me and secure the door - nice!
Hot deal!

Both of them have reviews saying they have rubbish range and go off by themselves! This is a totally different design where you need to actually *press* it to activate it, rather than relying on a ghost sweeping across the room!

I was replying to Katy28 with something that might suit her needs better, not giving a general alternative to this deal. I haven't personally used the first one I linked to, but use the 1byone ones and have never had any problems.

Great video , where can I get the pepper spray
Edited by: "snoopy18" 28th Jul 2015

Can't believe it, I thought of this idea in a dream once and now the dreams of me being a millionaire are in tatters.

On the other hand it's just an obvious and simple idea no wonder I am so late in the game.

Heat added cheers!

It's a great idea and would help stop the missus from entering the gaming room + would probably scare her off at the same time.

From all good hardware stores. X)

So you have to leave your door unlocked so the intruder can push the door onto the wedge to make it go off.
What if the wedge slips and slides along the floor.

No don't think so which is a shame but suppose it stops the muggers using it

Ah I see so you don't jam it underneath the door and the alarm is activated as the door rides onto the wedge compressing the metal contacts. Makes sense now.

It is a great little gadget !, and I only paid £1.00 for it in the poundland store some years back, so all you do is put it near your front or back door (when you are inside as you would not be able to get into your flat otherwise ), and not under the door or the intruder will see it and simply push it away from the door, so if the door is opened it will set off a very loud decibel alarm, also ideal for using in hotels and on holidays etc.

This is for people who are doing the dirty on their laptop, they don't mum walking in!
