Mobile phones direct have a deal with a Doro 5516 on O2.

30gb of data on a 24 month plan.

Monthly cost is £30 however they give you £396 cash back over 18months bringing the monthly cost to just £13.5

You then also get a free Nintendo switch.

Further another £46.5 from Topcashback or £45 from Quidco bringing this to just £277.5 or £11.56 monthly for 30gb of data.

Using this a simonly deal gets a cheap price and a free switch comparing it to giffgaffs 6gb for £10 or voxi 8gb for £10.

Phone is next to worthless but might get £10-20 on eBay or Cex.

Bargain!!

Why is this voted as cold? Too convoluted? £11.56 for 30gb of data plus a Switch? That’s great for a sim only deal. Post even mentions phone is rubbish. Heat from me OP if it’s true and you’ve done the maths correctly. Thanks for the post and the effort.

One thing I would note is that if it's one of these cashback over 12/18 months then they're usually a pain in the arse requiring you to do something every 1-2 months (e.g. fill in an online form) to claim it or else you lose it and end up getting significantly less cashback. Although I haven't done one of these in about 10 years because of this, so my information/experience could be dated. These days I always go for "automatic cashback" as while slightly less is much more straightforward.

You’re right, you have to upload your bill at certain months. It’s pretty straight forward as long as you remember and then you get a cheque through the post. I’ve had two contracts with MPD in the last 2 years and they have been fine with me.
Is it even a physically possible to use 30GB of data on a Doro phone?

That sounds about right. Honestly who uses cheques in this day and age? I was not a fan, but depends on your level of organisation/faff you can be dealing with.

It is a good deal if you are in the market for a switch, lots of data and don't mind a bit of faff, but I imagine that's a fairly small niche.

To put it another way, if we assume you were to buy a switch for £230 (which is around what the best offers on here have been) then that means this sim is £47 for 24 months of 30GB data - £2 a month which is a crazy good deal.

I’m okay with cheques as Halifax let’s you scan them in with your phone to deposit.

To be honest I haven’t checked the rest of the deal I was just talking about my experience of MPD. Randomly the phone in the deal is the same one the NHS gave me for work lol. It’s useless, I bought myself an iPhone 7 and put their sim in it.
A little bit of faff for effectively a free switch is a reasonable deal to me. But guess people see it other ways.

I have two contracts with this company now in my second year. No problems whatsoever. Cashback process is simple and straight forward. Hot deal if you want a switch on a monthly tariff and 30 gb Data!

If you were already after a switch and a sim only deal, obviously phone is useless. It's a great deal. Probably voted cold as folk haven't bothered reading the full post.

Mobile phones direct do not pay cash back by cheque but by bank transfer, into the account that you gave for your DD on sign up.

They are also quick, so no seemingly endless waiting like with mobiles.co.uk.
I looked at this deal and thought it was pretty good. Sell the phone to CEX for £15 and there's also a potential £42 of Topcashback available. The cashback claiming process is simple. I have another cashback contract with this company and they've been quick to pay out.

That's exactly what I'm going to do.

Top cashback tracked straight away at £46.5

It's a bit of an investment originally as you are outlaying the full amount but works out well in the long run.

Also o2 priority gives you some decent freebies. A free coffee each week at Nero is a nice bonus incentive
Is it the older switch model or new one ?
seems like a mega hot deal to me - I need a new SIM card and the kids want a switch for Christmas. Ive been looking to get a new Vodafone SIMO contract for £23 per month. This is exactly the sort of deal I need. I just bought the Xbox all digital too on the Very deal so now I don't know which one to give the kids.

My Quidco hasn’t tracked yet although phone has been delivered so I have had to raise it with them.
