Usually the capacity of the cylinder is 1 litre, but you can’t fill it anywhere near to the top and you need space for the filter, at the top and grounds at the bottom so probs closer to 750/800ml.

Two mugs of coffee @ 300ml each leaves you a mug and a bit (last bit is dregs anyway, so don’t want that).

I.e. it’s about 2 mugs worth

I have this and it is good. Goes in the dishwasher, doesn’t break if you drop it ( unlike glass cafetiere). Also, keeps coffe hot so you can still drink it hot an hour later. Hughly recommend and great price.

Sure but you're paying for the larger vessel. If you don't need it, why more? Might come in handy one day but will only take up more space in the cupboard.

I have ordered for Click and collect, it says exterior is stainless steel. It doesn't say if whole thing is steel or just outer. If its steel then it can go in dishwasher.

Having checked with the supplier for you I can let you know the whole product is made of stainless steel except the spoon which is made of Polypropylene (PP).

Thanks for using Argos Q & A
oops, just spotted this too:
No, the Argos Home Double Walled 8 Cup Cafetiere - Silver is not dishwasher safe.

I hope this helps.

If you don't need it, don't buy it - it isn't compulsory...
How do I make coffee with this? I only ever used Nescafé and tassimo.
Just collected one, seems good value to me. Thanks

hot, not boiling water
one heaped spoonful of coffee person
stir
leave to steep for 3-5 mins plunge
enjoy
Why can't they make a cafetiere with sturdier filter mesh, because the thin ones always go out of shape

And who are these weird people that have 125ml cups of coffee?
Edited by: "eset12345" 17th Aug
Heat!! Looks very similar to the one John Lewis charge £40 for.
I've got one of these. The insulation isn't great, so don't expect piping hot coffee an hour, or more, after you've made it.

An hour is about the maximum amount of time this will keep coffee at a drinkable temperature. Even after an hour, it will only be luke warm.

My tip, if you want to keep the coffee hot for a decent amount of time, is to use a regular caffetiere and decant the coffee into a Thermos flask, which will keep it hot for hours.
Thanks, just ordered one.

Yes, that’s for a reason - you shouldn’t need to. What are you doing to the filter that means you need to replace it?

You brew it. Put a scoop of fresh ground coffee per mug, add hot (at least 20 seconds off the boil) water and leave for 5 minutes. Then SLOWLY press the plunger and pour.

try ebay etc - but you'll find it's nearly as cheap to buy a new cafetiere
Great find! just placed a collection for tomorrow. I have the glass one and I have chipped the edge, so need another.
Always worried I smash the glass one.

Thanks
Could this be used as a teapot instead?

If it's a Bodum they post them free of charge!
Have some heat, thanks! Just smashed my trusty John Lewis cafetière so was a bit miffed!
If it was a smaller capacity I'd buy - sick of the fragile glass ones breaking

Ground coffee bags, not beans.

So think of your instant coffee granules, but much finer.

1 ts/cup or however you like your coffee.
Fill it up to however many cups you're having
Let it sit for 5 mins
Very slowly depress the plunger
Enjoy

125ml is what you get from a Nespresso machine, lungo size, double espresso. Once you have tasted proper espresso in Italy you are done with these milk flavoured 300ml coffees. I rather have a less but stronger coffee. Double espresso with 2 teaspoons of double cream. Yummy 😋
