P&O Ferries are offering their usual pre xmas trip, however its not as good as previous years.

They are offering a return day trip to France for a car and upto 9 passengers, 3 bottles of JP Chenet (Red, White or Rose) and BOGOF full english breakfast or fish and chips for £24!

Onboard the other day they were offering 2 x 3 litre boxes of Gallo wine for £15. Each box is equal to 4 bottles so worked out a pretty good deal!

If booking, try and book either the Spirit of Britain or Spirit of France - The two new ships in the fleet.

Fares start at just £24 for travel from Sunday to Friday and you can travel on a Saturday from only £29. You can book this special offer until Tuesday 30th October. Travel from 8th October until 6th November.

Hi how do you get the deal ??

Click the "Get Deal" button and enter your travel details. Promo code of FreeWineDT should already be entered. Just remember its only for travel from the 8th October until the 6th November.

Having had one of their bogof breakfasts, I can tell you from my own experience that you never get off bog.

Other than that, it's true that this deal is not as good as it has been but, hey, it's still value if you live close enough to Dover and, if you get sea-sick, you can always drink the wine,

The real pity is that The Wormhole hasn't had any good deals this year.

Where do the nine people go in the car?! oO

Shame I don't live close enough to Dover to get the best out of this deal.

Hope it helps others, and a smooth sailing to all
Heat added.

It used to be £19.99 and 6 bottles of wine not so long ago. If anyone does make the trip over then call in at Calais Wine (www.calaiswine.co.uk). Run by 2 English brothers and has the best wine deals by far. If its lager you need then go to Pidou (www.pidou.com).

They get 7 people on a scooter in India, seen it with my own eyes, not a one off!! 9 in a car is a piece of cake.

Ford Tourneo carries 9 people including the driver.

Hi
Some poster mentioned Calais Wine run by the 2 brothers. Did you know that if you have a combined spend of £250 they pay for your ferry crossing and if you spend £400 with them then they pay for a Euro Tunnel crossing.

It's a much better deal in my opinion as if 2 or 3 of you go over its only works put the following:

2 persons
£125 p/p spend for Ferry
£200 p/p for Tunnel

3 Persons
£84 p/p for Ferry
£134 p/p for Tunnel

not voting either way on this - - - it may well be the best price around at the moment (?) but at other's have said it has been a better offer.. I used to go for £17 with 6 bottles of wine, regularly and only a year or so ago

Price gone up from last year, wait for Daily Mail and Sun offers to come out.

You HAVE TO come back from France though. If you don't, they may charge you for the single ticket surcharge. I wanted to go over and not come back that way for a while, but it won't work! Big shame.

What did you expect? Thats why its called a day return trip!

whats the deal with htis?

say I just wanna pop over for a day to fetch a load of wine etc....

What time is good to set off and what time is good to come back? How long does it take to clear the ferry/customs? and what are the rules on bringing back lots of Wine/Booze/Ciggys etc?

For info:
When you go to the on-board shop you pick up the wine with the voucher you get. I think you get that when you arrive at the port and check in or I did when I lived in the UK.
The best time is as early as possible as there is 1 hour time difference. The supermarkets open at 8am UK (09.00)time and close at 6pm(7pm) UK time. They are 1 hour ahead. Some shops close in the lunch for 2 hours. Big supermarkets do not close at all. As for what you can bring back the C+E suggest 400 bottles of wine,800 bottles of beer and 2000 cigs if your a smoker per adult. You can get a good Cote-du-Rhone at Aldi or Lidl for under 2 euros a bottle. (about £1.60)
I don't have those issues any more, I moved here.

For customs purposes there are no limits as to what you can bring back from the EU. However, there are guidelines -

customs.hmrc.gov.uk/cha…ent

EG: 800 Cigarettes, 1KG of tobacco....

If your carrying more then the guidelines, Customs may stop and ask you questions to prove its for your own personal use.

You need to go as early as possible to get the best out of this deal because ciggies and tobacco are not as cheap in France as they used to be. To get the best you need to go up the coast to the first town in Belgium where you will find lots of outlets along the side of the road all giving different deals and that is why you need to go early to give you more time on the "day return" deal. On the other hand you could make a long weekend of it for not much more and stop over hotels are quite cheap so you can still be in pocket.

Takes about 40 minutes to drive to Adinkirk from Calais. Straight up the A16, first junction when you enter Belgium.

thanks guys for the advice, been doing a little research myself also probably will end up just buying lots of Wine and maybe beer. 400 bottles is more than I need probably will buy 50 bottles tops.

I agree with Mr_Tommo above, for us we would have to spend £60 return on fuel before the ferry! Tescos up the road would be just as cheap after meals, fuel etc. Then again it is a very nice expensive day trip!

Is this a national deal, or just at Dover?

What sort of idiot asks "Is this a National deal, or just Dover?" when the offer says Dover Calais?

Link is wrong in 'Get Deal' above, booked through that and had to cancel and re-book to get the Free Wine/ Bogoff breakfasts.
Correct link is:
