I've been using service-it liquid for years and I've always been happy with the results. It won't erase mould on the rubber seal but it will get rid of stale and minging odours after only one application.

A top tip is to empty the bottle in your detergent drawer and leave it to soak for a few hours so the innards of your machine get a good soaking; don't empty the bottle and then start your machine straight away. It's for this reason I've always preferred the liquid over the powder version.

This.

Ive ran out of soda crystals so I will give this a try. Thanks.

Seen in Poundworld for less.

I thought it said David Beckham service it lol

As been said before Soda crystals do a better job and get rid of any nasty odours that hang around in the machine!
A 1KG pack of Soda crystals in Asda is 67p

i use neat bleach on the rubber to get rid of the mould (scrub using an old toothbrush) and then run a wash cycle on a capful of bleach/then a cycle of your normal detergent and this cleans it out.

Cheep thin bleach on a hot wash cycle will clean machine. Some machines only have a 60 deg wash so won't kill mould on it own as not hot enough . I do use washing machine cleaner to if I can pick up at pound shops. I also buy descaling liquid and use every 2 years. You can pick that up at B&Q or pound shops. Good find though. Heat

Out of interest is there a way to get the mould off the rubber seal?
I always leave the door open now to let he moisture dry and prevent it in the first place but didn't do this with my last one and was gross on that seal.

Raw bleach applied to the seal is the only way to really get rid of black mould. Don't mix it with any other cleaners or you could be scouring out your lungs.

Another soda crystals fan here. Special machine cleaners are very expensive compared to a cup of soda crystals and put the machine onto a boil wash or the hottest wash you have. Just look at the water half way through and you'll be amazed at how grubby it gets.

Your normal detergent won't cut through the greasy clingy deposits on the outside of the drum and in the pipes. Liquid detergent makes it worse. That's why you need to use something like soda crystals or a machine cleaning product and to run it on the hottest cycle to get it all cleaned.

Yep, it's the liquid and gel detergents that cause the smells to build up in the first place. We went back to powder detergents some years ago after suffering from whiffy smells eminating from the drum for a a while. Researched the problem and engineers were blaming the liquid/gel detergents so stopped using them and sure enough it worked. I run a 90 degree towel wash at least once a week and never get any nasty smells anymore.
