Dr Martens - 1460z - Black Smooth - Unisex

The Dr Martins 1460 boot is the classic 8 eye style, it features a smooth leather upper which feels great around your foot. This boot is true to their heritage and has the traditional DM welted construction with yellow stitching around the base, the uppers are sewn together, not glued like many other shoes, this minimizes the use of glues and makes the boot incredibly durable. Add this to the air cushioned soles and hard-wearing outsole that is oil and slip resistant and the Doc Martens 1460 is a durable and long lasting boot.

£60 from Amazon in my size and about £63.12 in a few others as I've been thinking about getting some Doc's again. I think they may have lowered though as I'm sure they were a bit dearer last week when I was looking

Can you share the link please. I looked and as soon as I clicked on any size and they zoom up to £75. I looked on amazon and cheapest in size 4 was £75, spent all morning so if you got them for that price well done share the link and i will cancel this deal.

The newer ones are nowhere near as blister painful to break in, at least if you buy the standard ones rather than the expensive ones that are still made here in England. The leather on the chinese ones most certainly is thinner, sadly this is not a good thing.

Doubtful you would get the Vintage 1460 styles Made In England, that have a RRP of £190 in the factory shop which states it deals with clearance styles only. Unless you live locally to Wollaston, Northants and know differently?

Yes, the leather is thinner. Its still really stiff though. I bought a pair a few years back and had a fair few blisters breaking them in.
I agree the quality is not a patch on the originals though.

BTW..... I paid £40 for a pair of 8 eye 1460 from Rubbersole with a discount code.
Must admit I wouldn't pay anymore than that with the decrease in quality.

I know because I was there on Saturday and the made in England range was on display ..obviously subject to change but the Harris Tweed were 35...I wouldn't suggest if I was not sure!

I've got a brand new pair size 8 mens if anyone's interested

Whoa, since when were docs up to £100 a pair? I've never paid over £40-50 myself

I've had mine for 20 years and they still are bloody uncomfortable!

The only thing that unites us, is Doctor Martens Boots

So are you are saying they have the Vintage 1460 there, but only the Harris Tweed style at £35 which is marmite, hence why they say clearance styles? Do they or don't they currently have the classic Vintage 1460 there and at £35?, thanks.

Size 13? My feet are pretty big!

Same here, I think I paid around £35 actually when I bought them from Rubbersole, some 3-4 years ago, would not pay more.

My Docs were made in Thailand and the leather upper has a weird cardboard texture and stiffness to it..... I did wonder if it was that fabricated bonded leather. It also has what seems a plastic coating on it that doesn't seem to need boot polish. Almost like patent leather.
The Airwair soles seem as comfortable as they always were and do seem to be lasting, but the uppers are nothing like I remember them from the 70's & 80's.

I bought a pair 5 years ago, made in England, proper quality, £35. Bought another 3 years ago, made in Thailand, leather was much thinner and softer, and the quality went downhill, £70. Bought another pair last year, made in China, bad quality, after less than a year the sole already started to break, causing holes to form, £65. With that quality control, I looked straight past Docs when it came to the next pair of shoes. A shame, really.

The answer is to avoid Dr Martens and go for the REAL Dr Martens, Solovair.

Solovair are the real Dr Martens now, still manufactured in the original factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire to the specification Dr Martens boots used to be made.

I'm sure they're top quality but too expensive for me......
Cat Colorados and Timberlands are now my boots of choice....... and both of these last years and years.

I knew the non made in England ones where not as good and again those even as good as they used to be years ago but the Thailand ones i have are okay, sad to hear that production is in China and quality has took another hit.

Solovair might be expensive but they are still cheaper than the Made in England Docs.

Heat added, although the import type are poorer quality you can still get 2 or 3 years hard use from them. For 50 quid you can't go wrong.
