It was £28 in the ASDA 20% off a few days ago. There's an example. So if I were after this I would wait until prices drop that low again. No point buying at £33 when it's been £5 lower so recently.

£35 at Asda currently

I have seen masses of stocks of this all over the place so I expect the likes of Smyths to have it for £20 in a clearance.

Barely a year old set, unlikely to retire yet. Yes, it does say "retiring soon" on the UK Lego site... BUT - If you look here shop.lego.com/en-…304 - The US lego site, it claims it is "NEW"!!!!

John Lewis in Kingston had these for £24.99 to clear them out, I bought 57 - 7 on shelf and another 50 in storeroom in factory boxes. However, it's not retiring, it's just that LEGO are rereleasing it in a new style box. It'll be available until March 2018.

No you didn't. I work in said store and there were actually only 49 in the store room and I bought them all using my 250% staff discount

Truth is no one really knows other than the odd "true" insider, who is clearly not loitering around HUKD. Lego almost never publicly announce a set is to be retired.

I used to work for LEGO and was able to buy sets at incredible discounts to pass onto friends and we'd split the profit. However, discounts were reduced and also the quantities we could have. It was only a part time job and I really hated my boss, a total cow! I still get some information from ex-colleagues but, they're never 100% sure themselves as it's only the 12 senior members (AKA the plastic disciples!) that make the official decisions. My LEPIN username is honestly a typo as I spent a year at school in France and was nicknamed LAPIN (Rabbit) due to my buck-teeth (fixed many years ago). Since this corresponded with the Chinese knock-off factory, it created anger and amusement on LEGO forums so I just left it as it was ;-)

I wouldn't touch LEPIN bricks with a bargepole as they have a horrible greasy texture, don't fit together very well and are rumoured to contain asbestos. Is it worth saving money to poison a child?
