Funnily enough just donwloaded the ISO last night

These sorts of Ultra Blu-rays are a bit of a con, and a waste of money. Only movies and content made in the last few years (and certainly not all of those) are actually 4K. These are remastered 1080p videos, that offer upscaled 2K images at best. There's very little discernable difference between them and a standard Blu-ray that costs a fraction of the cost. Not to mention your TV will upscale your standard 1080p content anyway.

For instance, I have a top of the line QLED 4K HDR TV and 4K Blu-Ray player, and out the Ultra 4K Blu-ray's, only Planet Earth is true 4K HDR - and it's incredible in fairness. The Martian with Matt Damon in HDR is pretty damn good too (although that is actually shot in 2K I believe). The Revenant is also not true 4K, but upscaled 2K HDR, and that looks excellent. The older movies like Jurassic Park, and Independance Day, really aren't worth the premium. It's nothing like the difference between DVD and standard Blu-ray.

Thanks for the heads up on that, although that website is referring to 'real' as a movie with a full 4K 'remaster'. A remaster is not the same as a movie shot in 4K like Planet Earth. Yet it may actually look very close to a true 4K image (depending on how well it's done).

A film "Shot in 4K" should not be confused as superior to one "Shot on Film" no matter how old it is. Have a look at the new release of 4K Bladerunner for what a movie shot on film and with a very good transfer can look like. I'm afraid this misconception that a film has to be recent and shot at 4K is going to cause a lot of problems for the format. Movies shot digital but at 2K or 1080 (Phantom Menace for instance) are the real problems and are effectively upscales. Film on the other hand can have an 8K transfer when scanned and can give stunning results.

Yes a movie shot on 35mm film has more detail than a modern 4K digital camera, but a digital camera is vastly more convenient. Therefore old movies shot on 35mm can be released as true 4K as they just need to do a new 4K transfer, however most modern movies even when shot at 4K are downconverted to 2K to do all the visual effects as most cinemas only have 2K projectors anyway.

TV shows on the other hand, those that are intended to be 4K are being kept at true 4K throughout and Netflix even does all the visual effects at 4K as well

Btw this is actually £10.49, it’s in the 30% off section but they aren’t taking the money off at checkout. You have to live chat with them after buying and they apply the discount. Anyone who’s bought this should contact them as you’ll be eligible for some money off :-)
