not sure to be honest, i think Hive will be more expensive especially if you go the each room its own TRV route...At the moment Hive is on deal on amazon for the price this kit is going, but this kit already includes two TRVs. Hive may be further in its IFTTT development. Hive room stat looks better, Drayton TRV looks better (both subjective). Hive also offers more products such as bulbs, sensors, plugs etc, but with IFTTT and smartthings in my house im not bothered. This is just a quick look, i did not dig into the features and PROs and CONs too deep, sorry

Please let us know. This would be super valuable because not many will ever have the opportunity to practically compare two such systems.
I don't think Hive can control individual radiator thermostats, it's just one thermostat in the usual central place in your house, and it tries to get the house to that temperature.

The Drayton controls the rad thermostats individually as well as from it's central position, so you can get individual rooms to whatever temperature you set to, for example you can turn the guest bedroom heating off when no guests, your bedroom off during day and on in evening, etc. But you need to buy more valves for each radiator, so the initial investment is high to get the most out of it (like a lot of smart home tech).

I've not fully researched the thermostats as there is a lot of information to take in. But Nest and Hive are just smart versions of a central control, whereas Drayton, Honeywell (check models) and Tado are multiroom control. Pretty much a different product.

I've added heat anyway, as it seems a reasonable price. Most of the individual radiator valves are £50 each, so getting 2 plus the control unit seems a decent enough price.

Thanks, hive does offer a smart TRV now. £54 on amazon and very poor reviews. You may need a hub to make it all talk (drayton hub already included). Drayton TRV £35 right now, £40 standard.

Why is this cold? Seems like a good deal to me.

I prefer controlling individual radiator (like Drayton, Netatmo or Tado does) than the whole house (like Hive or Nest) i.e. heating either ON or OFF. Main reason being not having to manually open or close radiators not being in use. Downstairs is always colder than rooms upstairs, so always end up having rooms much hotter when we are heating downstairs.
Hive does have smart TRV now, but will be a costlier option as compared to Drayton or likewise, as you'll be buying the kit first, already over £100s, + individual trv's, each costing over £50.
Still wonder why people are voting cold, as they could share their experiences.

That offer is gone, and this is the next best price. Still good imho

Yep, it was. But that offer no longer exists. Classic case of HUKD timemachineitis :-)
Had the Drayton as I liked the idea. However, the TRVs constantly lose connection in a large house which makes it unreliable. It went back.

i bought for that price, but sadly for others, i have not seen a deal for time machine recently. the RRP of this is £220

Ah OK, thanks, that's news to me. It opens up hive as an option as I want TRVs it makes much more sense. Just had a look and the Hive one is quite good looking too and with the temp displayed which is handy. The honeywell TRVs are quite ugly with their tilt screen. Drayton are the best looking ones, but no temp display.

I've got much more research to do I think! It's quite a big commitment and investment choosing which system to go with.

I find temperature doesn't matter in my house, especially not to my wife, it's either cold and the + is pressed or hot and the - is pressed
My wife is why I need to pay attention to this stuff, she regularly leaves the house to pick our son up from school with the thermostat set to 25, and I don't find out until 7pm or so when we get back via a shopping trip. The more automated I can get things, the better!
Well in monetary terms i got drayton half price . Hive i purchased in 160£ (Two AMAZON warehouse Hive heat & hot water) where as Dryton i bought in 99£. So drayton is cheaper that way.but no idea which one should i keep
