Martin Tupper (Brian Benben) is a divorced book publisher who tries as best he can to raise a teenage son (Chris Demetral) and remain friends with his psychotherapist ex-wife Judith (Wendie Malick). Though he frequently is shown dating and seducing many a woman, he is not-so secretly still in love with Judith. This passion burns all the more brightly when she marries a brilliant scientific genius that annoyingly embodies the idea of Renaissance Man. This story is punctuated by Martin's subconscious, which often takes the form of interjected old movie clips.

A work of comedy genius - essential!!!

I still remember the first time this was shown on C4:

"its a sitcom, we won't get to see them.... MY GOD, she got them out!, This is the best sitcom ever!" :w00t:

Hey I was only 17 at the time, and C5 didn't exist back then. ;-)

This is a great series, remember watching it when it first appeared on TV. The episode where he goes out with a comedienne is particularly good, especially when she uses him as the butt of her jokes!

This was a very good series at the time... does it still hold up today though?

Well I was going through some old VCR tapes the other day (remember those!) and found a couple of the episodes I'd recorded, perhaps it is just me but I still laughed out loud at it.

It was repeated a couple of years back on ITV4, its lost nothing!

Always a great pair on too

Martin Tupper = Legend.

So so true!

Ah yes, fond memories - easily the most explicit thing ever, to my naive younger self...

Sure it have good jokes in there too, but I often fast forwarded them...

Just did a little bit of research and found only the first 2 (of 6) seasons were released anywhere on DVD, so next I did a search for the best season 2 price.

£5.22 at Selectcheaper (5% Quidco) but only 1 copy left. After I got mine of course ;-)
