Dremel is the inventor of the premium-quality high speed rotary tool system. The Dremel 3000 Series Multitool is Dremel’s mid-range tool, ideal for medium-use DIY and hobby projects.
The 3000 Series Multitool has a versatile high speed motor which can be used to drive all Dremel accessories and attachments which let you complete tasks such as engraving, grinding, sanding, polishing and much more. Suitable for both robust and intricate work.
The Dremel 3000 is the result of upgrading our most popular rotary tool using user-requested features to improve the tool’s design and ergonomics.
The tool also features the EZ Twist™ nose cap with an integrated wrench that allows the nose cap to be used as a wrench to tighten accessories and eliminates the need for a separate wrench. A more efficient fan design and side vents provide a cooler running tool making it comfortable for extended periods of use. The tool also features a symmetrical design including a trumpet-shaped nose cap to facilitate a pencil-grip tool hold. This kit comes in a softbag.
The 3000 Series Multitool is compatible with other Dremel accessories and attachments in the range. Dremel products have a 2-year warranty. Dremel tools are built to last and maintain their high performance levels, while still being affordably priced.

From Q&A
Is the blue spot 216 rotary tool kit suitable for use with the dremel 3000
Answer:
yes - works fine with my dremel 3000 - but see my review about this kit!
By JonesTheBoatBuilder on 16 July 2014
Yes - but, although great value it is not top quality. It all works though.
By Harty on 16 July 2014
yes. the packaging is a bit feeble and you may wish to store the tool attachments in something more robust.
By Kevin F Parsonage on 16 July 2014
Yes it will work with any Dremel rotary tool.

My Son has both and has not reported any problems with it

(A reviewer mentions the Dremel 3000, as well as on the Q&A section).

is it compatible with the dremel 3000
yes. Will let you find out what you need/use rather than spend a lot on 'just in case' items

If the chuck on the Dremel 3000 opens to around 1.5-3mm - and in all likelihood, it will - then they should be fine! Hope this helps!

Does anyone know the difference between the 3000 and the 4000 is the 4000 worth the extra money?

More parts with the 4000 and the motor has a higher wattage (175 vs 130). I'd suggest the 4000 is more suitable for applications with metal, if you are working with wood cant see why the 3000 wouldnt be enough.

what do you want to do with it. that will determine diffrence.

i bought a 3000 at short notice to cut a fixing bolt off of a childrens trike i had put together wrong on christmas eve. since then ive used it for lots of unexpected things including drilling pilot holes , and cutting off old screws from a garden gate i was reusing. Proper 30 year old good quality steel...each screw went through a full ceramic disc but i got them cut off.
Can anyone give an opinion on how this compares to the Black & Deck rotary tool here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/BLACK-DECKER-RT650KA-Rotary-accessories/dp/B0001OZHF8

I missed the deal on this for £27 or so on Amazon the other day, but this looks like a good alternative? I need it for craft stuff with wood for the most part, but don't want to buy the Dremel if it's not up to the occasional bit of heavier work.

I read "90 watt" and didn't bother with the rest.
Fair enough!
I've been hanging off for a good deal on the 4000 but as it's for wood carving mostly - thanks to the comments on here I've just saved myself 50+ quid Thanks
