Better watches for £225 including Rotary the brother or sister company …Better watches for £225 including Rotary the brother or sister company depending which way you swing!Don't ask me to list links to the watches better than this, don't be lazy Google it!

Slightly unhelpful
Given it's price point and design this is an "OK" watch. I take umbrage at the "Hand Made - In Switzerland" on the dial because it's an obvious, egregious lie and it totally sinks this watch (and company) for me. They even go to great lengths to define what this actually means (not what you think!), in an explicit effort to add credibility which to my mind makes matters even worse.

The components are all Chinese, made in China, shipped to Switzerland where they are assembled by a low skill production line worker for the bear minimum cost, which is evidently less than 60% of the cost the watch or else it would have "Swiss made" at 6 o'clock.

Rotary (100% Chinese owned) are one of the worse companies for this kind of trickery - "Est in Switzerland" etc... which is why you now buy them from Argos and not a reputable jeweller. If you like it then sure buy it, but be aware people that know anything about watches will likely look at this with disdain.

Japan offers much better for this money, without any of dishonesty

I got a Drefuss watch about 3 weeks ago it's really good quality and high spec for the price paid. I really like the looks of this watch and think its excellent value. Voted hot.

No it's not, it's very helpful!

I've told people this watch is not good value for money!

Most helpful advice I can think off.

You just don't like it

I guess I'll listen to the two people here who have bought one and like them rather than the person who hasn't and doesn't.

But you didn’t explain why or how you’d reached that conclusion. You may well be right but without some facts or background as to how you arrived at that opinion it’s not really very helpful “advice”.

I will admit that I hadn't noticed the lack of Swiss made on this watch, but most Dreyfuss that I have seen do have it on, mine certainly does. I doubt very much that this has a chinese movement assembled in Switzerland, it would cost way more doing that than just using a Swiss made Ronda (I think you may have thought it was an Auto). Hand made I agree an exaggeration lots of watch companies exaggerate, don't Rolex say it takes a year to make one of their watches(Yeah right). You mention Japanese watches, Seiko watch prices have soared while their quality appears to have dropped ( many alignment problems ). I think you will also find that Seiko, Citizen, Casio etc are readily available in Argos. When I looked on watch forums there was very little about Dreyfuss watches and what there was seemed like guesswork.
My Dreyfuss. 1924 model. £271 Sellita SW200, Front and rear sapphire crystals, enameled dial, screw down signed crown, exhibition case back and a quality leather strap. The display box it comes in will beat most watch boxes costing less than £2k. All in all outstanding value.

My Dreyfuss 1966 edition is going strong 10+ years down the line. As others say they have a quality feel and a non mainstream look. Pound for pound they're great value and if you're giving as a gift the presentation is suoerb. The box on mine is immense. Like all watches the looks are in the eye of the beholder. Hot from me
41795122-7imjW.jpgHad mine for over 5 years now. Still look and work like day 1. Mine also came in an wooden box that could also store 4 other watches.

Buying watches online is a bit precarious. You unbox it expecting to love it, plop it on your wrist and then you know if it's for you.

And hope the wife isn't in when it's delivered!

Is that a new watch?

Errm no, I just cleaned it.
My mate is a Ducati nutter. Every two years he spends a lot of money on a new one. His wife has never noticed as it's just a shiny red bike in the garage...
