The Details:

Ever wondered why the Follow-through is called the Follow-through? All will become clear when you drive it yourself, inTop Gear’s Reasonably Priced Car. Yep, you heard that right, it's the only opportunity in the world to drive the Reasonably Priced Car on the real Top Gear test track. First you’ll learn the track on the very latest simulator version of the track in a virtual racer simulator. Then after a safety briefing and familiarisation process, you’ll head out onto the real track alongside one of their tame driving instructors, where you’ll drive the world-famous 1.6-litre Kia Cee’d around Hammerhead, Chicago and all the other corners you’ve seen on telly.

Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Louie Spence… there isn’t a celeb worth talking about who hasn’t done a lap on Top Gear. But can you do any better? Or will you get a bit lost and miss the last corner? Whether it's dry, wet or mildly moist, now’s your chance. Everyone gets a place on the leaderboard, and your name and lap time will remain on the online version so you can keep an eye on your position in future.

Are they serious? £175 and it doesn't include insurance?

£175 really isn't that bad for a track experience, especially seeing as you get to see for yourself whether you cut the mustard... I would imagine the £10 insurance is optional....and let's face it the track being an open airfield isn't exactly the Nurburgring........ so not many obstacles to hit!!!

Been waiting ages to get invited doesn't look like it's happening think I'm going to have to pay

I'm sorry......unless your real name is Meat loaf and not Meatpie613 I think you're gonna just have to reach your hands into your pocket like the rest of us!!!

Nice, though Id rather drive one of test cars on the track!

You never know.....you could meet up with Clarkson, Captain Slow or the Hamster.... become friends for life and they'll invite you along for the next Ferrari hypercar test drive!

Nice treat for Top Gear fans. However if you're after cheap track time, there's nothing around that's better value than the VXR experience days in the summer.

Ta OP.

Quick question...do you have to be a VXR owner to participate?

How this deal isn't stone cold is beyond me.

All cars provided and it's £35 for an hours track time, breakfast or lunch included. They only do it certain times of year. Also was available at Silverstone. Extreme value for money to be fair:

Only if you do the full day one. The hour session is open to anyone.
It also includes lunch or breakfast and previously the £35 has gone to charity.

If they had the Australian VXR8 then that would be interesting, but Astras and Corsas don't get the juices flowing.

Would be fun to experience that Dunsfold track though,

If you have the displeasure of meeting or seeing Jeremey Clarkson, do you get a refund?

Cool deal.

I'm waiting for the Road Wars version where you have to hotwire a Golf GTI and rip through the Britwell estate at over a ton whilst being persued by a marked Scooby

It's the 20 minutes hiding in the bushes while the helicopter tries to find you with the heat camera that puts me off...

As for the deal looks like a lot of fun and a brill present for a Top Gear fan, not sure of the value overall compared to getting to run something sporty round a track for a lot less..

That's free and you get free criminal record

Looks like there's also a shorter option for £85.

They do the Aerial Atom for £135.

Shame you can't sack their car off and take your own. I'd fancy that.

Or if you're lucky you could crash and die.:D

Nice timing op to go alongside the new series which started yesterday. Also confirmed by Clarkson that the new series will run for 10 weeks!

Actually a friend of mine got a similar gift for his birthday driving an R8 and it was at the Dunsfold aerodrome, I can tell you there were loads of cars on the track, overtaking, some were learning the car and the track and were going really slow, its not what you see on top gear with just 1 car on track.

£10 is worth it

A day with UKIP's core support to drive a crappy car. No thanks.

Yeah I saw the £85 option when I was preparing to post the full beans....you don't get to drive the full test track though, which is a bit pointless really....you'd know you'd come away from that thinking........I should have gone the whole distance!! (_;)

I wonder if they let you drive the car solo like they do on Top Gear, or if you have to have the instructor in the car with you?

The extra weight would kill the time

How many of those episodes will be season highlights/recaps though.

Nah, you gotta own a scooby

Cold, price isn't the full package. Am wondering what else isn't included that's really a necessity.
And is this discounted off the normal price?

How many laps will I have as the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car?

Before you drive in the real world, the pro drivers will talk you through the layout of the track noting key braking and accelerating points, and then you’ll have time to virtually learn the Top Gear Test Track on a games console. Once you’ve memorised it – or when your thumbs are sore – you will get behind the wheel of the Reasonably Priced Car, accompanied by one of our pro drivers. After familiarising yourself with the car you head to the start line for a practice lap and then it’s time to do your timed lap. So two laps on the track in total.
2 laps?! Forget it

what a rip off

Same price as my M3 & single seater experience, and that gives 15 minutes track time in each car - I'll stick with what I've got.

Great chance to use the same toilet as Jeremy Clarkson.

I presume the likes of Cruise and Cameron Diaz went before they arrived, so can't guarantee the same.

Or more importantly as the Stig.... Some say he has slept with all the presenters of fifth gear........and that he was once bitten by a King Cobra.......and after 6 days of agonizing pain the Cobra died!

This says it's the Kia Cee'd but don't Top Gear use a Vauxhall Astra now?

Yeh agreed. Only insurance I've taken out is the optional one at Rockingham when doing a single seater. But then you do get close to the oval wall at 150ish mph
