I have used Driver Booster now for ages and never had any problems using it. Its the only driver update software I trust. I had a Pro licence from a giveaway that just ran out so this was good timing. I just installed it and I only had to enter a code that is supplied with the download and all is working

It's nice to have mature impartial advice.from "experienced" software reviewers.

I have, why would you pay to check your drivers as someone else said the open source software is far better if you need something like this also there's literally a chance you can get dodgy drivers

So you saying they make this software to then download stuff to my PC in the background ?
I use this with NO problems but if you don't want some good FREE software then don't download it - sorted
iobit have been around a long time and have a terrible reputation, bleepingcomputer.com/for…ad/ driver updates are easy enough to do without a dodgy piece of software checking for you. There are many legit update programs provided by the actual companies these days, even intel has one.

I understand the intent of the post is aimed at IoBit rather than Driver Booster specifically, but that link is discussing their system care product and not driver booster.

There are many other equally positive reviews than those above

its certainty not a must have and as highlighted there are lots of free alternatives including downloading drivers directly from manufacturers websites. From my perspective it works, is easy to use and keeps my system automatically up to date without having to do anything other than download Windows 10 updates from Microsoft.

Not everyone is tech savvy and understands where to go to get the drivers to keep their system safe, or has the wherewithal to cobble together open source solutions to do the same thing. For these people a small outlay to get a fully automated low cost just works solution might be the right answer.

'cobble together open source solutions', SDIO is just an app.
SDIO does appear to be a good example of a well though through bit of free open source software, if a little dated looking as per this review.

ghacks.net/201…rs/

To me it looks more complex than driver booster to use but i agree it is a simple download, install and run type of programme, and its free

here is a review of 11 top driver installers lifewire.com/fre…206 - driver booster is no 1 as it is in many review comparisons.
Not seen one bit of iObit software that wasn't terrible, avoid it imho... nevermind that drivers are easy enough to update yourself, there isn't that many you need to that often other than the GFX and sometimes higher end sound cards...
