This drone is good but lacks some necessary features, for instance one key take off and landing and altitude hold.

I don't think that many people who are thinking about buying a drone, maybe for a child for Christmas are aware of the new rules. I also read that a drone must be kept at least 50 metres away from people and private property, so this might apply if you want to use one in your back garden.

Seems like over 250g, that's what BBC says. I don't see any mention of minimum weight at the CAA website.
This is definitely heavier than 250g.
Edited by: "rev6" 7th Dec 2019
Children or adults wanting to fly a drone or unmanned aircraft such as a model plane weighing at least 250 g will have to take the test to show they can do so “safely and legally” - the details are in the link that I posted above.

It is currently but next year they are applying this to any drone with a camera

Can you show where you got this information from? I was of the understanding that flying any drones over 250g requires a flyer ID. If you are responsible for a drone >250g then you also require an Operator ID (£9) which you need to mark any qualifying drones with.
register-drones.caa.co.uk/
Bugs 3 is over 250g so needs Flyer and £9 per year operator licence.

Only drones under 250g are exempt for non-commercial use.

You DO need a £9 registration with the CAA you may be reading the rules about commercial drone use that need another type of licence

commercial means if you get anything (cash or even something else) in exchange for any aerial filming or photography
no, you need a licence for commercial use not for a hobby heliguy.com/dro…i68
All gone

Why would a child under 13 need a flyer ID if it wasn't for none commercial use.

Directly from CAA:

There are two elements to the online system.

Anyone responsible for a drone or unmanned aircraft (including model aircraft) weighing between 250g and 20kg needs to register as an operator.  The cost for this is £9 renewable annually.

Anyone flying a drone or unmanned aircraft (including model aircraft) weighing between 250g and 20kg must take and pass an online education package. This is free and renewable every three years.

A bit confusing. When is flying a drone not the responsibility of the one flying it. A child? I give up...

The way i understood it after reading the CAA website -

Responsible for a drone = owning a drone and flying it.

Flying a drone = borrowing it or flying somebody else’s drone.
Eletrix scooters now this. Is this called freedom?

What gift?
Mine arrived tonight and was easy enough to assemble. It is bigger than I thought and seems very well built.

My drone arrived today - I have not had a request to leave a positive review (yet). And there was nothing in the packaging asking for a positive review.

This is a powerful drone - I wouldn't like the one key take off - the landing control would be useful though.
