Can pick USB freeview tuners for £10-15 inc del all over the place.

Yes jukkie but this is a duel tuner so that you may watch one channel whilst recording another.

The cheaper ones you refer to are single tuner

wonder if these work ok for building a media centre, a really cheap way of getting a dual tuner in. voted hot.

Can these be plugged into a laptop so you can watch tv while on the toilet?

Its a DUAL TV tuner, completely different.... You can record 2 channels at the same time, record one watch another plus picture in picture.

I hate the fact people on this forum just vote cold for a product they clearly have no interest in, and have not even bothered to read... :whistling:

I know - I voted cold before realising it was a dual tuner (sorry!). Rep added for OP though...

Thanks

Great deal mate, was just looking for one of these, especially from a top notch firm like Maplins, cos there's lots of rubbish ones of these tv tuners around.

Top notch? You're 'aving a laff... They only sell cheap gear, nothing is top quality...You can always find better quality for a better price elsewhere...They just have a bigger high street presence than anyone else.

At least if there is a problem u can take it back for a full refund, plus no shipping if u collect. Anyway... I challenge you to 'find better quality for a better price'.. where's the link then :whistling:

You'll be lucky to even pick up BBC1 with the supplied whip aerial, so I recommend this from Maplin - takes 2xAA batteries or 5V DC via a suitable adapter and is relatively small. Gain of up to 20db. I am not far from a transmitter but parts of the house have deadspots. With this, I get all the channels. The supplied aerial arm is detachable and can rotate in the socket for best reception.

Instore used to have something similar that worked off batteries only, but was useless.

edit* nm just noticed the picture, i have one of these, bought off ebay for £12.50 and works like a charm in xp and media portal, never tried with vista
faster channel changing than the hauppauge 500mce i also have,, note rubbish remote with them, only works with their own software.

I think I can just about make out a Certified Windows Vista logo.... so I presume its all working with Media Centre which works like a charm with dual digital tuners..
