Dualit Newgen 2-Slice Toaster, Polished Stainless Steel £109.99 @ John Lewis

I bought it instore for £149.95 yesterday and asked them to price match Selfridges at £119 but today they've lowered it themselves to £109.99. The price match team called today and confirmed I'd be getting the lower cost.

Why vote cold if it's the lowest it's ever been?

The best toaster money can buy.
I've had mine 15 years, it's still looks and toasts like I bought it yesterday.

I hope it butters it and cuts it for that price!!!

Some people won't understand and will just vote cold because you can buy cheaper toasters. However, I've had mine 6 years, the style never dates and it works as well as the day I purchased. Also, these are extremely well engineered and as such are really easy to fix should anything go wrong (so I am told anyway!)

Toasty hot from me

Not voting. But for this price I expect it to make the bread too

You can buy 20 toasters and 1000 bread for this price so why waste so much money on a toaster that most people use just once a day for breakfast save the money buy something cheaper it might work for few months buy another but this is a waste

Cold cold

Argosextra- take you are also the type of person that buy the cheapest car you can find, instead of a good quality reliable car.

This is a good buy.

hot bought mine in 2000 still going strong

I have a similar Dualit model 3 slot toaster, the one with the extra wide slot.

I worked in electrical retailing for 25 years and bought this toaster more than 18 years ago and have to say it has been absolutely brilliant. I replaced an inexpensive element some 5 years ago which in itself was very very simple.

I realise they are an expensive toaster but then again how much would I have spent on buying replacement "cheap" toasters over that period. If you can afford to buy one this is an excellent price. voted hot for the right reasons.

I'll vote hot for the deal but I do not understand their reputation. My parents have one as do most of my extended family but I hate using them when I'm round.

Sure they are solid and don't break down but any half decent toaster will do that. Yes they are good looking.

My problem is the quality of the toast that comes out. It's so inconsistent, uneven and really dry. My middle of the road Krups knocks it's socks off for toast quality. And it has reheating, toast from frozen and deals with multiple widths.

Whats the problem? If you can afford it then you buy whatever you want!

Good Toaster that lasts, can be easily repaired if needed, and sells well second hand....or even third
Only problem....the price paid new...keeps going up

Can it do 4 at once

1 Your 20 toasters will be cr*p - this one is a pleasure to have around and a pleasure to use
2 You talk of waste - how much waste are you creating with your 20 cr*p toasters?
3 Some people like nice things in their houses - if you prefer cr*p in yours, that's your choice

My Dualit lasted less than 2 years. It was the 4 slice version like the above. Argos did replace it with the cheaper more plasticky Dualit which has been working fine. At least you get a 5 year warranty with this deal.

Same price at Amazon.

We've had the same 3-slot Dualit toaster as luminox for about 17 years, it makes perfect toast every time and it's still very aesthetically pleasing. We've replaced three elements in the time we've had it, but we make a lot of toast. We got through a lot of the cheaper brands over the years before finding this gem.

It is no surprise that hotels use their industrial models because they are workhorses, and we feel ours is too, we love it.

Not voting either hot or cold on this, but I will weigh in with a refutation of the "cheaper toasters will be rubbish" argument.

I've owned a stainless steel 4 slice toaster for 5 years. I got it from Argos, reduced from £50 to £30. The styling is lovely, it toasts great, and there is also a setting to toast from frozen. It has never skipped a beat in the whole time I've owned it.

To try and argue that you need to spend this type of money to get a toaster that is reliable and looks nice is ludicrous. However, because there are people out there that are all about the brand I won't vote cold as this would be a good deal for them.

Had mine over 10 years and still going strong - voted hot. Excellent product and better value in the long run than cheaper versions.

Absolutely. There is no other toaster on the market that will last as long as these. And no other toaster that can be fixed even after 20 years with easily obtainable spares that just need a screwdriver to fit.

This is probably what I paid 12 years ago for mine. Had to replace a switch on mine after about 5 years or so. To me they are good value.
